Sound Deadener Showdown

Anyone have any experience with this website?

sounddeadenershowdown.com

I emailed him a week ago and have not gotten any response. Should I take my business someplace else?

I am interested in purchasing sound deadening materials from your website. I want to start off by fully sound deadening both my front doors to improve the stock audio quality. I got the material breakdown from the Vehicle Package at the following link:

https://www.sounddeadenershowdown.co...brz-coupe-2012

Can you please sanity check that my quantity conversions are correct?

- CLD Tiles (Qty: 16)
- Extruded Butyl Rope (Qty: 1)
- 15 ft² MLV (Qty: 4)
- 20.6 ft² 1/8" CCF (Qty: 2)
- Velcro Strips, adhesive 2 sides (Qty: 8)
- Marshalltown 2 inch Maple Roller (Qty: 1)

I am located in FL. Is there anything else that you recommend? If everything looks good can you please send me an invoice? Thank you so much for your help!

They just responded. I am going to push forward with my purchase. Wish me luck.

Thanks for your interest. I've had a 2017 since last December and still haven't treated it, so you're putting me to shame :)

So:

5 CLD Tiles, outer skin

1 CLD Tile, cut into smaller pieces, inner skin
1 CLD Tile, cut into smaller pieces, trim panel Extruded Butyl Rope
6.2 ft² MLV
9 ft² 1/8" CCF
3 Velcro Strips, adhesive 2 sides

Totals:

14 CLD Tiles™
1 roll Extruded Butyl Rope
12.4 ft² MLV
18 ft² 1/8" CCF
6 High Temperature, Vinyl Compatible, Velcro Strips
1 8 oz can HH-66 Vinyl Contact Cement
1 2" Maple Roller

As an Order:

MLV comes on a 54" wide roll. You really want a single piece for each door it's tricky enough to get it to fit properly without dealing with seams. Your best bet is a 21"x54" piece for each door.

14 CLD Tiles™ @ 2.45 = $34.30

1 roll Extruded Butyl Rope @ 9.75 = 9.75
42 linear inches MLV (2 21") @ .93 = 39.06
2 sheets 1/8" CCF @ 16.35 = 32.70
6 High Temperature, Vinyl Compatible, Velcro Strips @ 1.63 = 9.78
1 8 oz can HH-66 Vinyl Contact Cement @ 12.50 = 12.50
1 2" Maple Roller @ 8.75 = 8.75

Sub Total: $146.84

10% Military Discount: -14.68
Sub Total: $132.16
Shipping: 28.29
Total: $160.45

He's a one man show. I met Don a few years back when I picked up my material from him, he's less than an hour from me so I saved on shipping. Nice dude, knows his stuff.

I've used the website and products in my car. I will say, though, I just redid my doors using a different product and the door speakers sound so much better. I put CLD tiles on the inner and outer door skins and door card, and had a layer of MLV and CCF between the inner door skin and card. I was recently at a MECA car show and got dinged for a buzzing in my right door. So I decided to re-deaden my doors.

So, I got a roll of Soundskins Pro and completely (as much as possible) covered the outer and inner door skins. I also had a box of deadener from Parts Express (Sonic Barrier MX-4, MUCH cheaper than Soundskins). It looked exactly like the Soundskins Pro (even specs are identical), so I used it on my door cards and to help cover the outer door skin.

Needless to say this made a huge difference for my door speaker response and sound. And it was just as quiet in my car while driving.

Don't get me wrong, SDS products are great and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from Don again. However for me, this other route gave me a better outcome.

Nope, but I got a Google alert for this thread and now have a BRZ forum!

Thanks for sharing this information!

I personally was most interested in SoundSkins Pro. I like the Sonic Barrier MX-4 price, but a bit concerned about the heat melting the product (according to 1 reviewer on parts express)

I'm a fan of how simple and light weight it is ~

Edit - https://www.parts-express.com/sonic-...-roll--268-044 ←apparently this one is the one that can hold on hot and cold
Edit 2 - nevermind. MX-4 https://www.parts-express.com/sonic-...12-4---268-046 also listed at 160°C
