All-new BRZ scheduled for 2021-2022

According to Automotive news:

"BRZ: The low-volume coupe, along with the jointly developed Toyota 86, likely will be redesigned in 2021. When the second generation arrives, it's expected to have more power, a lower center of gravity and possibly Subaru's EyeSight safety system, according to Japanese press reports."

Don't think Eyesight belongs in it...but the rest sounds good.

"likely" "expected"

i hope they do redesign, and i hope they do it well. please make the car more beautiful and not a botched plastic surgery job

somewhat off topic: i thought it was really interesting that the new supra will have a lower COG than the twins

How does everybody like he all new turbo second gen BRZ that all the auto “news” promised was coming in 2018 based on Japanese news.
As long as people still give them clicks they will write stories.

Oh God please. Call it a briesta. It would only sell in Europe.

most people want something new, exciting , but will it be better? Most likely it will cost more then $26k

That sounds great actually, as long as it revs to 8000.

The small displacement 4 bangers that are popping up in so many cars now tend to have low redlines and small turbos that have a good mid range punch and not much top end... so an 8k redline with a small turbo motor isn’t terribly likely.

That's cause they are economy focused and have a small turbo for the size of the engine. Up the turbo a size and throw a hotter cam in and that can be fixed. Not saying it will be, just daydreaming.

In the extremely unlikely scenario that they did a big turbo on a small engine with a hot cam... it would have a less than stellar powerband and would have a hard time meeting ever stricter emissions standards.
I really don’t wish for a turbo in the BRZ (I’ve owned many turbo cars, but I just don’t think it fits the character of the BRZ), but I wouldn’t complain about a larger displacement boxer engine with a smoothed out mid-range powerband.

Some corporate guys were telling me about the new WRX and STI earlier this month, but they don't know anything about a 2nd-Gen BRZ except that it's a possibility.
