Can the Canadians on this forum please do me a favour?

Pet peeve of mine: could you guys please update your location to something a little more specific than "Canada?" How about the town, province? I love to know just where people are from, and it makes me sad when people just put "Canada."

It just makes it too easy for the Yanks (love you) to think we all come from the exact same place (any of you who have travelled to the US will understand this feeling).

Thanks.

You know: to do something for someone else with out expecting something in return. I believe you Yanks spell it "f-a-v-o-r", while the rest of the English speaking countries spell it using the Queen's English, which is how we spell it.

Well, I meant the term "Yank" referring to Americans as a whole. If you're eluding to some geographical variation, I don't know about those.

Ah well Virginia and below are generally southern states. I'm sure there are some southern folks that would take great offense to being called a Yank lol. :bellyroll:

Oops, my bad then. Just replace the word "Yank" with "American in my posts, then. I'll keep that in mind for the future.

You'll get in a lot of trouble with that word around here. :bellyroll:

Yeah, a lot of people in the southern states still hold a lot of pride from the civil war we had. People from the northern states are sometimes referred to as yanks but not so much.
1. A term used by the British to describe all Americans.
2. A term used by American Southerners to a. describe Union Forces during the American Civil War; b. Post Civil War reference to Americans from non-Southern States.
I guess it's like using English to describe everyone in the UK...:iono:

Nashville is a good place for a yankee to live in the south imo. A lot of people who live here aren't actually originally from the south. But you can tell pretty quickly when a native to the region comes walking around.:bellyroll:
