Hey All,

So last week I flew out of state to pick up my BRZ. I had 1 on order but it wasn't set to come in until late December. I drove 800+ miles to get home. It was a blast. I'm over 1k miles now am really starting to enjoy the car.

I also picked up a set of rims and tires.

Looks great! I Was just wondering if you painted the fender vents to match your wheels? Since in the pictures they look darker then the chrome ones.

Question to the group:
Anyone know of a pedal set available? I've got big but very narrow feet and the pedal spaces aren't optimal for my preference. The gas and break are too far apart for my driving style. I'm not saying it doesn't work for most - just not for me. As for technique, I'm plenty experienced (just so that I don't get replies saying i need to learn a proper technique:D). I drove formula Mazdas for years and dabbled in many other racers. I'm looking for either a wider brake pedal or a wider gas pedal (or at least one that gets it closer to the brake). If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Nope didn't touch anything on the car other than to remove the text badges in rear, remove the gas tank sticker, and throw on the wheels. I think the DGM looks good with the grey wheels though.

Looks great - enjoy

What wheels and size are those?

Did you swap out your OEM tire pressure sensors or buy new ones?

The wheels are 17 x 8, +36 offset Kosei K4Rs. I didn't swap out the sensors. I will likely buy new ones though. My stock rims will get snow tires and will be used in the winter.

Thanks!

Yep 235/40/17s. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s. Not the stickiest out there but all around a great tire.

I still have the stock suspension. I'll be keeping it this way for quite sometime. Since this will be my winter car I need to keep the clearance stock.

awesome. can you comment about the added grip from the sticker/wider tires?

ayau 07-29-2012 12:03 AM

it looks like 245/40/17 is a more common size compared to 235/40/17. i wonder if 245 will be too wide/heavy for our cars.

225/45/17 is the most common, but the overall diameter will be off by 1.45%.

I can't too much. I threw these on 2 days after I picked up the car. There is a big difference but I can't comment as to the gap. The only test I did was to first on the stock setup drive at almost full lock and slowly accelerate while adjusting throttle for balance. Doing the same with the new combo, the Limits were much higher.

For me it was important to maintain or reduce wheel/tire combo. The wheels were a great choice and one of the lighter wheels I found for good money.

I went with 235/40/17 as opposed to 45 series to keep the overall diameter as close to stock as possible with special attention to not increase. I could have done 245 but decided 235 would provide a bit more sidewall stiffness to maintain sharpness.
