I'd love to see a video of you getting a manual transmission car to stop and go in traffic without touching any pedals...

How are you using the engine to control the speed without touching pedals? I guess I don't know how to drive MT after all since I still have to use the gas and clutch in stop and go traffic.

You two didn't realize you can take your foot off the accelerator and coast out of gear in between using it to control your speed? No wonder you think an auto is easier.

Jeez, good thing I ride a bike to work. my etap works perfectly compared to your peasant transmissions.

Ummm ya pretty sure we all know and do that. So you are good for a couple of seconds. Hardly a no pedal drive.
You know what else you can take your foot off and let the car coast at idle? The brake pedal on an AT.

But enough of that, what I really want to hear is everyone's opinion of lightweight pullies.

Manual crank pulleys are far superior. The automatic ones work better at a higher RPM but have added weight from the extra battery to keep it spinning even with the car off. Makes it much harder to drive in traffic since minimum coasting speed gets up to 15mph. BBK may be needed to compensate.

I bought an automatic so my wife can drive it when necessary. If I feel the need of a thrill,I ride my Suzuki TU250X like I stole it.

Before I got mine, I rented an automatic 86 in Japan.
I loved it. The paddle shifters were a lot of fun, and I would have been happy with an automatic, especially since I commute 3 hours a day.

But the tS was only offered in a manual, the engine upgrades only come with the manual, and I feel I would have always been wondering about the manual if I had purchased the auto. So like 24 out of the 28 cars I've owned, the 86 twin I bought was indeed a manual.

I got an auto, because after 30 years of driving a manual, stop and go traffic just was so easy that I didn't feel engaged. Driving was no longer a pleasure as driving a manual had become second nature. I wanted the challenge of driving an auto in stop and go traffic, so I got it. I love the challenge of dealing with only one pedal at a time, and what to do with my now useless left foot. Do I rest it on the dead pedal, or do I bring it back so my knee is up?

I got MT because I wear my Fitbit on my left ankle. It is the only way I can get my steps in for the day.

Also there are more bolt-ons for the MT.

Manual; I like to shift.

It's also a anti theft device in the 21st century.

I bought an auto because it's easier to text and eat while driving down the freeway.

I can't believe it took 50 comments for someone to finally repeat this. It's usually somewhere in the first dozen.

Etap is fairly high tecno , verus going mechanical inner wire set up. What happens if you're running electric shifting and it stops functioning (dead battery, etc) , and your 10+ miles away from civilization / bike shop ? Maybe there is a portable solar panel you can buy aftermarket, to help charge the battery ( it's going to be more weight)?

Kill the weight.

That isn't funny. I wouldn't be caught dead making any kind of comment like that.
