Well I bought my second BRZ Digital Cluster -_- Plan to actually install this one haha.

I was interested in the fact that oil temperature is included in the dash now. Which means I need to add those wires to my harness. LS Swapped and removed the factory oil temp.

Ohh yes! lol. But how do you have your Swap? Are you using Pure automotive or some other stand alone?

MRS Canbus translator. Turns the LS Signals into FRS signals that the car thinks is coming from the engine.

OHH i wonder if Colins passed on the oil temp from the original FA20 or pushed that data from your LS engine.

DustinS 10-11-2018 02:24 PM

No oil temp from the LS harness, so I assume passed.

True! it might be easy to wire the oil temp then.
The cluster should pick it up pretty easy then.

Definitely Interested in the joystick work, and possibly mileage conversion if possible.

Now if only we can hack in our own inputs and screens so we can show oil pressure, wideband 02, fuel pressure, etc...

I wish i could do that too. But i feel that the chip they used is very limited on what it can do. Especially with the flash chip its using. Thats why i decided to make my own. Its coming along best i can for now.

Thats cool. Where do you plan to out the joystick at? i personally though the middle traction button plate was good. But some might want to place it somewhere differently.

I like the center traction control button.

and I am thankful you uploaded very good images of the new cluster. I was getting ready to order LEDs to switch the needles from red to blue and just realized they changed from PLCC-2 to what looks like 0805 LEDS.

Ok sounds good! i can make one for you. Only issue i ran into was that since the 3d plastic isnt 100% perfect some small sanding and painting is required for the plastic part.

Oh! yeah there 0805 BUT the SMD pads looks more like 1206. They look like a boched in there to be honest lol.

From what it looks like to me, they are the same from the previous gen cluster, they just used smaller LEDs.

Oh yes for the needles they are very very similar to the prev gen. Also the needles are the same for the Speed and Tach from the prev generations. well at least for the GT86 version lol.

I built this for the dash control. Could throw into glove box when not used.

But if i find another way il let you know. Do the Cluster you have are virgin? like no car has been programed to it? I would like to compare a used cluster EEPROM to a new one actually. The eeprom is actually a different chip. The 8 leged 93c one from what i can remember. If you could read that it would be awesome too!

Its is getting popular in HK to swap to 17 cluster, so I have new and used cluster on hand. The cluster can be freely to install to any car, not like the keyless fob which can be binded once only.

For the EEPROM as per my understanding it is not that hard to program. However it is illegal to mod millage so I didn't drill into it. Anyway some tools from China could do that for around 1000RMB.

ohh Are you using a microcontroller to get it to function with a remote the way you have it?

So your saying a used cluster can be installed into any car? including a turn key car? or are you just saying you can use a new cluster on a turn key car?

Oh not the EEPROM is not. i already programed mine on my own. Its simple to correct it. But It has to be documented of couse and disclosed if you ever want to sell your car. but i want to see what other setting i can change. Like from Miles to kilometers in the ODO. or from F to C in the Cluster. Or switching the Auto AC from F to C etc.. and i have a tool that can read the EEPROM. But the NOR flash chip is a little bigger. Not sure how much 1000RMB is in USD.
