Solar shift knob not working
The solar powered shift knob in my 2013 FR-S Release Series 10 automatic that I purchased a week ago does not seem appear to light up. The small switch on the left side appears to be completely pushed in and has no give. In other words, it does push in and as if it is stuck in the "on" position. I have tried pressing on it and nothing happens and the knob does not light up at night. Am I overlooking something here?
Can others chime in and let me know if their shift knob's button actually presses in and then pops back out. In the long run, not having a glow-in-the-dark shift knob is not the end of the world, but since I have it, I just wished it worked. |
Doesn't it have an internal battery like every other solar light? I would look into finding a way to replace that.

Makes sense there's a battery or some kind of capacitor to store the energy the solar cells are collecting while the car is sitting in the sunlight (otherwise how would it light up at night?).
I've never seen one of these up close <-I'd be too uptight to touch it as the silver paint rubbed off my OEM MT shift knob (I don't get to drive much as I just hit 30k mi since 2013). |
