Tire sensor (TPMS) problems
I'm having a small problem with the TPMS not responding to my BRZ. I bought the car at a mazda dealership but I guess they missed the sensor light being on. They said they will fix it free of charge. Took it to them and spent my whole day there and they couldn't fix the light. Is this a subaru exlusive fix or are they missing something. No I'm not putting any tape to block the light lol no thanks.

Why did you take it to Mazduh?
The batteries may be dead in the sensors, buy some new ones. I see used sensors selling for $40ish. |
I second this, the sensors are weak. Batteries are starting to die (if the car is a 2013/2014 I think a lot of us will need new sensors, I just had to do mine for this reason. One would go, then the next, etc)
Convince Mazduh to replace them. Make up a story if you must, but try to get new sensors to avoid putting your wheels on a tire machine more than necessary. |
They might be making a n00b mistake since it's a Mazda dealership and maybe they don't know that the Twins use TOYOTA TPMS sensors. SUBARU TPMS sensors won't work, as you can't program them into the ECU, since they have different IDs with the wrong number of digits.
Ask me how I know, lol. |

Bought the car from them so figured I have to use their service.

Thanks for the info guys.

Took it back to Mazda and they fixed it. They ordered the tpms sensors from subaru and went to a tire shop and programmed them to the car. no more light, for now. thanks again guys.

For future reference for anyone on that runs into this thread the part numbers are: SU003-00754 28103-CA000 (subaru has CA001 or CA002 now) And they can be programmed in using tech-stream or carista app under the system select menu or modifications menu under carista. If you're replacing one it's best to replace them all if they are legitimately past the 7 year mark and dieing, but they are quite expensive OEM, almost $97-$110 per sensor. |
