What has changed in the exhaust from 2016 to 2017? (GReddy revolution)

I see that GReddy has changed their Revolution single exit exhaust to exit out of the right side of the car on the 2017+ as opposed to the left exit of the 2013-2016. Has anything changed on the factory exhaust between these model years or was this just a design decision by GReddy and either exhaust can fit on either model? I've seen some sites list the exhaust as 2013+ and some as 2013-2016.

They changed the flange between backbox and center pipe. So, if you buy a catback, anyone will fit, if you buy an axleback, you'll need the one for your car...

Yep the axle back portion changed on the newer models. Not sure why they would change the design to add more bends and piping

Up to 2016 only - Single exit exhaust - 3" piping - Includes resonator.
Note: * not compatible with 2017 models

Now I don't know what to think

Forget the axlebacks on newer models just get a full catback to be safe.

It IS a catback though that's why Im confused! Might just go for it and hope you guys are right.

So their store page for the exhuast for the 17-18 86 also says not compatible for 17 models so who know wtf they're talking about lol...

I have a +17 axleback and a <16 midpipe, though they have different connections and should not be compatible, i have mounted them without leaks or problems

Sorry to bump an old thread, but is there any further information on this? I have a 2017 86 and am interested in the older part, I just prefer the look of the left exit.

I'm having a hard time determining why the change was made and whether or not the older part fits correctly on newer cars.

I have a '13 TRD cat back on my '17, fit perfectly. I've also heard the axle back portion changed, so the mid pipe and muffler are different. If you switch the whole thing it doesn't matter.

Exhaust changes are explained in here they would have had to change to match them.

What Mas said!

Thank you for the responses, lots of good info in that document!

I'm still somewhat confused regarding the the Revolution RS catback specifically. Based on the changes listed and others' accounts of full catback systems having no compatibility problems with MY2017+, I just don't understand why the design of this exhaust was changed.

I ended up going with the 13-16 version and it fits perfect. Buy with confidence!
