Camber Bolts + Coilovers Question
 

I bought the whiteline camber bolts years ago and was considering throwing them in.

Looking around the forums there is a lot of conflicting info.

If I have street basis z's with stock top hats, would installing these at max camber (negative for driveability), would there be any issues beyond needing an alignment?

Camberbolts are just mean to get extra adjustment range at lower mount. Only negative side to these i may see, they are a bit less strong then stronger/bigger diameter OE bolts and a bit easier to slip, but that's not an issue to most, as often that heavy hits may also damage something else, and slipping possibility can be lessened via using some locktite/paint/alike.
Now if you need them .. what camber you have without rubbing if maxing out via camberplates? Is that sufficient for you? Then i'd skip installing these. If you want even more camber then with plates, install in addition to them these. Optimum camber depends on tires one use and where/how one drives. One thing is optimum camber for daily driving, another - for track.

IMO, there are zero negatives to installing a set of camber bolts. The amount of camber you can achieve is not enough to cause uneven tire wear.

There are a bunch of videos on youtube. The install only takes a few minutes. TQ them down to spec and your are good.


Install them in the lower hole and move the bolt from the lower hole to the top.

Is you top strut mount slotted? and are the Whiteline bolts you have for the top or bottom hole?

I have the top bolt option.

I am confused? Are the 16mm SPC and 16mm Whiteline parts different? If it is this whiteline product, KCA416?

This has been common confusion for a long time now.

The Whiteline instructions are incorrect for the twins. The 16mm Whiteline is for the top hole on our cars. SPC 81280 is also 16mm and for the top hole. The bottom bolt is 14mm and is SPC 81305 or 81260.

If the top hole is slotted there is an increased chance of slipping using an eccentric bolt. I run SPC 81260 in the bottom hole and the OEM crash bolt in the top slotted hole on both sets of coilovers I have ran with slotted upper holes without issue.

I am using 81305 14mm EZcam in lower, and the lower OEM bolt in the upper.

No problem. I'm not sure why SPC has 2 bolts that are 14mm with 2 different part numbers but there are many owners running both 81260 and 81305 and I have not seen any reported issues.

Just check them regularly as you would with any camber bolt and should be fine

My bolts are 20mm top and bottom. I guess those came with the Tein cause everything else says 14mm and 16... Maybe the Whiteline won't fit or I'm getting something wrong...

Where these new bolts that came with the coilovers? When you say 20mm is that the socket size you used? Because when we say 14mm and 16mm we are talking about the diameter of the shank and threaded portion, not the head.
