So im making up a parts list for 400-500whp engine and want it to last at least 100'000km. The purpose being to find out what parts I need to achieve what I want at what price so I can put money aside to save for it, so not a budget build. At the moment im just looking at pistons and rods.

From what I understand there are two kinds of forged piston 2618 and 4032. I believe 2618 will handle much higher hp because it is "softer" for lack of a better word but as a result requires more side wall clearance to deal with expansion causing piston slap giving it a shorter life span. 4032 on the other hand is supposed to be better for street applications since it doesnt require as much side wall clearance so lasts much longer but doesnt hold as much power. Since my power goals arnt extreme 4032 pistons are what I'm thinking of getting, however I havent been able to find a whole lot of 4032 pistons for sale JE, CP and the crawford all seem to use 2618 pistons (i could just be looking in the wrong place), I dont know what HKS use in their kit but the only 4032 pistons ive found so far are by Arias from fullbown. Does anyone know of any others that I can look into?

As far as rods go initially I was thinking of getting 4340 Aluminum H-beam rods but after some reading it seems that depending on who you ask aluminum rods dont have the greatest life expectancy and will wear out much faster than an equivilant rated steel rod. That aside I havent found any aluminum rods at this point anyway. But they are out there is it worth looking into? Or should I just get CP-Carillo pro-H con rods?
