Reconditioning AP Racing Sprint brakes
Does anybody know of a shop in Markham/Richmond Hill (or the GTA) that can recondition these calipers? Have one pad that is wearing down really fast and probably because of a sticky piston.
Thanks, Mike |
Will find out this weekend.

Can’t you send them to Essex for rebuild?

I could, and I'll admit, I've never worked on brakes other than changing pads... could learn as it seems to be pretty straightforward to do. Would either leave the car parked w/ no brakes or most likely put on the stock brakes while the APs are sent off. |
I just had a set of front AP endurance callipers rebuilt by Essex. It was about $280 for both which included cleaning, replacing needed parts, and testing of the calipers to determine their level of fatigue.

I never got around to looking at the calipers this past weekend but given the ~4 years of track use and on some days running quite a few sessions as the car's shared between the wife and I, probably a good idea to get the calipers rebuilt. Just placed an ordered with Essex for the seals and such, and get a mechanic I trust in Scarborough to do the rebuild.

The new new seals and bleed screws for two calipers from Essex, $125CAD from what was charged to my credit card. Then the inevitable fees from UPS that will eventually come.
For rebuild, I'm using a local mechanic, so it'll take a day. |
Additional taxes and brokerage fees will come out to around $50.

I'm pretty sure Speedstar or APH can do the rebuild for you.

I recommend Midwest calipers in Scarborough. Fair prices and great work. Ask for Galvin
