Chroniverous' 17/86 Build

Hey ya'll, new member here. My girlfriend and I bought ourselves a 2017 Toyota 86 and have slowly started to change her appearance.

When we first picked her up she was a bone stock Raven Black manual transmission 86. Since then we have added things to our liking.

Currently she is sitting on Tein Basis Z coilovers with BBS LM Replicas in a 17x8.5 size. We stretched the factory tires onto these rims for the time being. I know... I know... stretched tires are stupid. I am aware. Once they are worn off, I will be upgrading to something stickier.

I also told the dealership... do not drill into that front bumper or you will be replacing it. We went with a tow hook license plate mount instead.

The next items will most likely be a catback exhaust/UEL header combo since the factory airbox on the 2017 is pretty good considering.

I am loving the car so far, really brings me back to my 1985 Toyota Corolla GTS I had when I was 16. When I saw that Toyota was releasing this vehicle under the 86 badge, I had to have one. This car brings back memories for me.

Im hoping these pictures I post work, let me know what you think!

Thank you! We definitely weren't a fan of the factory wheels.

Thanks, I didn't want to go too low because we daily it. It will still scrape on some speed bumps and parking lot entry ways if not careful though.

We don't plan on winter driving it so im currently searching for a winter vehicle now preemptively so the 86 can go in the garage for the winter.

Also, thinking about upgrading to Brembo front brakes but would like some input from others. Time to do some research as the front brakes suck on these cars.

Also, new tires on order. Went with the General G-Max RS 245/40R17. I know some of you may be thinking that the tires are way too wide. The rims are 8.5 wide and I plan on boosting next year. :)

Finally an update!

I got the new tires and installed and WOW! What a difference in handling. Go Kart status now.

I also ordered a ducktail spoiler. I taped it on to see how it fit and its looks like I will need to modify it before getting it painted at the body shop.

Hopefully winter ends soon so I can take her out of storage soon. Its a 2017 and only has 10,200 kilometers now :p

PLM headers and a remark muffler delete in the near future!

Thanks for reading!

Long time no update!
So I ended up with the PLM Catless Unequal Length Headers and a Remark Muffler Delete. Boy, was it loud. I realized that I guess I'm showing my age now, and don't like a constant aftermarket exhaust with a drone.

The alternative for me was a modifying the OEM muffler into a Valvtronic Exhaust.

It sounds amazing, and I can switch it on the fly for spirited drives using the toggle I routed and installed in the glovebox.

I will try and get some videos of how it actually turned out in the near future. Definitely nice being able to drive down the highway and have the OEM quietness. Let me know what ya'll think!

Still have yet to install my Duck Tail and Side Window Louvers, they are awaiting paint.

Did you do the work yourself? or did you find a shop to do it for you?

I had a friend do the work for me, as I am not the best welder. I will have to get a better picture but essentially the straight pipe branches off the main inlet, goes through the entire rear side of the muffler where the valve is, then into the passenger side exhaust pipe.
