GPS Map Updates? (Free / Hack?)
 

I just bought a used 2015 BRZ.. i noticed that whatever version of GPS mapping it has .. my own home address is not found. I've seen that Subaru sells map updates for a pretty penny.. being this is 2018 and people find ways of getting all kinds of software in other ways.. is there any way to update the maps in this thing without paying subaru a big chunk of change?

With garmin and mazda connect systems its an easy hack, of dragging torrented updated 2018 maps to the sd card and using it, in fact theres even an open source maps available that are super accurate.

It seems nissan, subaru/toyota etc. all have it locked down pretty well and no one has made an open source crack for them or maps package :(

For now it looks like you'll have to bite the $190 bullet and pay for a new sd card. I ran into a similiar problem on my toyota head unit with navigation module, toyota uses a specific USB tool update entune maps......
