Alarm Activation
How to activate brz limited alarm
The secont post tells you how to turn on the alarm on the limited brz. If you do this then lock the doors the icon on thendash will be solid for 30 seconds then flas after that whicn means your alarm is set the link wont post so here it is.

If anyone has yet to be able to do it here are the steps:

1) Get in the car

2) press the start/stop button two times, with makes the car to be in the start position (all your dash lights light up)

3) Lock the car with the physical button on the door

4) Press the unlock button on the door and open the door while still pressing the unlock door button.

5) Still pressing the unlock button, wait about 10 seconds, the car will beep once for activated and twice for deactivated and the information panel in the cluster will say either "AL on" or "AL off"

Please forgive me. I have read this thread and I'm little confused. I have a Monogram FRS and was under the impression it has an alarm. It unlocks when I touch it. I tried to lock it before with the FOB inside and it beeps and won't lock. I did the same thing with the trunk. It won't lock and beeps if it is in the trunk. I see a red alarm light flashing when the car is locked. I love the FOB feature because I carry a messenger bag with me all the time and sometime I can't find my key and I just but bag on and if the car opens I know it is somewhere in the bag.

So does the car have an alarm? I don't feel like kicking it is the best way to find out. :iono:

The smart key system will not let you lock the door or arm the alarm if it detects the key fob inside the car.

Do the steps listed above to activate the alarm system.

To test it roll down your window. Arm the alarm. Keep your key fob away from the car. If the key fob is close by the car will disarm the alarm when it detects the key fob. Unlock the door by pulling the locking latch via the manual lock (not the unlock button). If the alarm sounds your system is activated

So I push the panic button on the fob to see if it works. And sure enough the alarm went off. I also took this photo. When I lock the car this flashes.

I also tried the steps listed above last and it doesn't do anything.

The UK spec GT86 comes with an alarm as standard. Ultra-sonic motion detectors inside and tilt sensor. Both can be disabled via the keypad in the glove box.

Smash and grab people won't car about the alarm it only takes them 5 seconds to grab whatever they were after.

Opportunistic thieves may be detered, but... at least in the UK a very large portion of stolen modern cars are done by the thief breaking into your house first.

How many of you dump the keys in the fruit bowl by the door or on the hall table? Well, apparently all it takes is a litter picker through the letter box to grab the keys and the thief is away in your pride and joy in seconds. Beyond that, crowbaring your front door open and lifting the keys. Your house is probably a lot less secure than your car is!

Think about it. Cat/house burglars... they want quick return, they want to get into your house, grab the most expensive thing they can and leave as quickly as possible. If they see your car keys, you'll never see your car again, unless it's an america car, in which case they keep looking for something of value. :D

Yes, that's correct. Sorry. I was only thinking about current production.

I don't think the panic button actually activates the alarm. Base FRS has the panic function as well but they do not come with a factory alarm. Only way I can think of to see if the alarm is activated is with the rolled down window method.

You need to do the steps fairly quickly. It took me about 3 or 4 tries till I got it right.

Like Stevenj posted you will hear a horn beep and see the alarm icon with either AL on or AL off.

If you still having problems bring it to the dealer. They will activate it for you.
