What to paint ABS wing with
Hey All,
I wrapped my new ABS wing but the vinyl is not adhering to it. I'm going to peel the vinyl off and paint it. Wondering, what have you guys had success with? My brother has suggested a plastic furniture paint like Krylon. What are your thoughts? My roof and trunk are wrapped in non metallic gloss black. Shouldn't be hard to match IMO. https://d1x0mwiac2rqwt.cloudfront.ne...707_002835.jpg https://resizeist.doist.com/?url=htt...266&height=200 |
Start with 'Bulldog adhesion promoter.' Follow the instructions on the can-- basically you spray it, wait for a certain amount of time, then paint on whatever you want. It will bite into the plastic and whatever you put after it (primer, basecoat, or even cheap spraypaint) will stick. That way you're not limited to cheesy furniture paints, and it will be much more durable.
If you don't use Bulldog first, chances are very good the paint will flake off. |
Don't be a fool.
Use actual automotive paint. You can easily get whatever color code you want in rattle cans these days. |

This ^ OP, I buy from http://www.automotivetouchup.com/index.htm I ordered sand paper, prep solvent, adhesion promoter, primer, paint, and clear. I already had a mask. (USE A MASK) Good luck. |
