DIY Alcantara Wrapped HVAC AC Climate control

Still had some Alcantara left from when I did my center console last year. Have always hated the space invader crap plastic used on the climate control and on the window controls. These things are cheap and common parts I figured if I screwed up I would on be out about $40

Tools-
Alcantara fabric
Welwood contact cement can get at home depot
small paint brush
$30 mini Titanium scissors from Jo-Ann fabric
Harbor Freight Heat Gun helped make the fabric a little more pliable and speed up the glue tackiness

Wanted to work the middle small hole first as that was the most difficult. Had to make a bunch of tiny pie cuts to get it to conform. These scissors are worth every cent

things got easier from here did the two bigger holes

Then finally the clock area. All trimmed and ready to reinstall.

Let it air outside for about an hour then installed

Came out great I'm really happy with the results. I will be ordering the metal knobs to cover the cheap plastic ones. I'm leaning to the gloss black instead of the polished aluminum look.

I will also be tackling the window/door lock controls next!

Nice. Wish I had the skill and time to do this myself.

I hate the cheap Plastic T design and it matches the Granlux material they used on the 17'+ models

I think I prefer the cheap plastic look but the work is top notch and it does look good.

The workmanship looks great, but from my personal view when I saw you adding fabric to the window controls as well as the HVAC controls, combined with the Alcantara dash you already had, I started seeing this in my head:

It's a style piece for sure, just not for me. Respect for getting it done though and getting it that smooth!

Haha D&D. Not going any farther than what I did. Just wanted to get rid of the annoying T's everywhere. I still have the ones in the dash cluster to cover. No worries that wont be alcantara :bonk:

I've got the lower piece, and the two vertical side pieces wrapped. Still deciding how much Alcantara I want on the rest of the dash.

I only wrapped the vertical trim pieces myself. The wrapping of the bottom piece was outsourced to Sweidit once I had modified it, as it was beyond my skill level, lol.

Very Nice Stang! If I ever made use of that cubby area to have switches I would do something like that.

I wrapped my sides in brushed black metallic wrap vinyl along with other parts. Can't get into my picture files at work. I also last year wrapped the whole center console in Alcatara. I think with the pieces I did and the stock 17+ pieces is probably enough. For now :)

I like it a lot, but you should do the shift boot/shift knob next. Shame to have $130/yard material around you, only to touch plastic vinyl.
