Cusco Sway Bars?

Anyone running the Cusco sway bars? I was thinking about getting the softer set as I will only see the track every other month or so. I was hoping I could stiffen up the front a bit more as I feel like the car is a bit over sprung in the rear. If anyone has opinions or experience I would like to hear them.

I wanted to get them as well but apparently they are hollow so im not sure. I might go with a solid bar instead. Probably heavier but more durable especially for track use.

I had solid ST sway bars on my 91 MR2T and they were STIFF. I don't want to go too stiff for two reasons:

1. With the bar not flexing all the force will be transferred to the chassis where the bar attaches. In the MR2 world the solid ST sway bars would rip off the end link tabs and crack the sub frame. They were that stiff.

2. I am not sure if it is because of the spring rates, but I feel like when I take a corner hard and hit a bump the car is easily disrupted. Stiffer bars are going to extenuate this effect.

This is why I figured the Cusco set would be a good one. But I know very little about these things...

an increase in roll bar stiffness isnt really going to change the ride quality as much as springs would so i wouldnt let that rule out stiffer springs. other than that i have nothing for you

hollow bars are nothing to worry about. you are probably going to break mounts or endlinks before a bar.

Agreed. But I was hoping stiffening the front more than the rear (as they are adjustable) would help me find the balance I was looking for without swapping springs.

since they are adjustable just put them on and try them out. im sure you can find something that works. if you want to be cheap i would first start by unhooking a rear endlink. if that feels good, then you can kinda find out what frc you like and if you want stiffer, you can go from there. the great thing is that you can easily make those adjustments in minutes so you can really get back to back comparisons. its a good problem to have

I have both front and rear Type OS w/master cylinder brace on front

People will argue back and forth whether they have any positive affect or not. I can't prove that they do, but the car does feel a little tighter to me. If nothing else, they do look great! ;)

What!?!? Crazy. You broke two stock bars or Cusco? All on your FRS?

IIRC the Autotechs were prone to breakage due to a fault in manufacturing.

A hollow swaybar will not break if it's well constructed and the walls aren't paper thin.

You got "swaybar" and "strut bar" mixed up. :)

I went with a stiffer rear cusco and white line endlinks. Im leaving the front stock for now, if i feel it oversteers to much i can just soften the rear dampers to try and lower the oversteer.
