https://metradealer.com/files/aswc/ASWC-1_INST_959.pdf That's the instructions I used to wire the ASWC-1 into the harness. I can pop my radio out and take pictures if it helps. And that's kind of a bummer about the captive volume control. Hopefully it's responsive! |

Headunit install is “complete” for now. There are quite a few plugs that the harness/head unit doesn’t seem to use, which is interesting. I have two issues: The Axxess AWSC-1 isn’t detecting my car. It is detecting my headunit, but it thinks the wires are disconnected from my car. I may have flipped the pins. I will have to rewire this later this week. The backup camera isn’t working. The reverse trigger is working on the headunit, however I get no image from the backup camera on the headunit. I had it plugged into the wrong input initially on the headunit so I swapped it to the proper “RC” input on the Pioneer. It still doesn’t work. I ran out of patience currently as I have a very early day tomorrow, so I will have to deal with it later in the week. Anyone have any tips? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...830b9a5237.jpg |
You can select your car and radio by plugging the ASWC into the computer and using the Metra software. I ended up doing the manual programming after this, as I wanted different function for certain buttons.
For the camera issue, you may need to go to the settings for the camera and toggle between the battery/ground options for the picture to display. |
If I had to take a guess it would be that the headunit is sending 12v to the camera and the camera only takes 6v. My Kenwood unit had this happen and I just used a voltage dropper attached at the camera end to make sure the camera only got 6v. Works great now. This one specifically https://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/ax-cam6v.html. Hope that helps!

Sorry for the late reply, have had this installed since release Pioneer ZL5150BT :)
Half the price of the Kenwood 200mm unit but just as good in every way. https://i.imgur.com/0ZqEhk4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Ne2n7cT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0SHSehH.jpg |
So, as a follow up:
For the AWSC-1, I'll attempt to program it manually using the Metra software and see if it works. As for the backup camera, it may be down to me not grounding the video ground cable, as it was mentioned to only ground as required. I'll give that a shot tonight and update you guys. Otherwise, the headunit has been a joy to use. Super responsive, and although the volume controls look to be capacitive, they are actually hard buttons, which is nice! I'm going to Auto-EQ and TA tonight as well (I have the EQ mic from the DEH-80PRS in my old car, I had quite the system in there!). I'll keep everyone in the loop! |
Woo that's good to hear. Do you use RaceChrono Android app? Do you know if it works in Android auto mode?

@JBezugs check the camera polarity settings before you change physical wiring. My camera did not display properly until I changed the setting to "Battery" |

I flipped between the two settings; neither battery nor ground seems to have worked for me. Hopefully the video ground fixed the issue. |

Interesting. I don't think I had to ground my camera, but I could be remembering incorrectly. Hopefully you get it working. The radio looks really nice, wish I had seen this one back in May. |

It has been enabled, currently when I shift into reverse the reverse camera screen comes up (which means the reverse trigger is working), however I have a black image where my camera should appear. |
How’s the speed and responsiveness of the overall system? There’s a Sony one out there for like $400 with all the functionality except CD/DVD that I’m interested in
