Invidia R400/Gemini with EL Header
Has anyone installed an R400 with an EL header, if so could you show me a video on how it sounds.
Looking to purchase El headers and currently have an r400 catback. Not sure on how it will sound or whether it will be too loud. Thanks in advance |
well, stock headers are EL, so it'd sound the same unless you got catless headers
too loud is completely relative, but if you think some strangers on the internet can convince you whether something is or isn't when you need to be there in person to confirm, then go right ahead |
Yeah they're catless headers.
Na, I get that it's all relative. But hearing a video you do get a sense of how loud an exhaust system is with drive by/revving. |

The stock exhaust is UEL. That's why it has the "boxer rumble". It's due to the inherent (unequal) length difference in the primaries, and the exhaust pulses having an out-of-sync pattern to them. Once you go to an equal length header the pulses are more regular and the boxer rumble is mostly gone. |
Except stock isnt really an UEL the differences are so small that you can t hear a rumble tone
Also you have a 2017 and 2017 cars MT have a perfectly EL header |
Hmm, ok well if that's true then I learned something today. It recall reading that they optimized the intake and exhaust some to get the extra 5hp but didn't know the style of the header changed.
Makes sense because EL make more power up high and I think that's where the extra 5hp is on the 2017s. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk |

Here are the header changes: The exhaust pipe branches have been shortened to equal lengths and the shape of the collectors optimized to maximize the exhaust pulse resonance. The exhaust pipe layout has also been straightened out to reduce pressure loss. The pipe diameter has been increased to reduce pressure loss. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |
