Dezod Motorsports dual exit catback exhaust review/install

Yet another exhaust to try out on my BRZ. This one is pretty good. The Dezod Motorsports dual exit exhaust. Quality and craftsmanship is top notch, install is simple (like most exhausts), fitment is friggin perfect, and it sounds and looks pretty good IMO.

Only con was it weighed in (on my scales) at 34lbs when it is advertised as 29.2lbs. Not a huge deal unless you're stupid about weight savings like me :bonk:

It's nice that they're offering it with that reinforcement plate on the Y split, to hopefully prevent the cracked welds in that area that plagued the first version of this exhaust.

Hope it holds up for you and stands the test of time!

Nice review! Exhaust looks great, really like the muffler and tip size. One plus though for the CSG Touring compared to this one is it eliminates gaskets and flanges using the slip fit and band clamps.

Why do you feel that slip fits and band clamps are better than gaskets and two bolt flanges?

I would disagree with that assessment.

Love those exhaust videos. Wish you could get someone to record your autocross videos from outside the car. Then we could really hear it in action

After dealing with a few set ups consisting of warped, ill fitting, incompatible sized, leaky ass slip fit exhausts I would never, ever, ever, think they are better than bolted flanges. If you want to use slip fit then weld them together after you manage to get them in place.
Now... in my defense this opinion is based on 30 year old tech and things may have improved but I don't know how if they did.

Agreed.

Agreed.

No gaskets, more clearance. I don’t have any leak issues...maybe I’m the minority on this one!! Haha

Hmm, from outside the car might be kinda of tricky except at the start or something. All my autox videos have the sound from inside the cabin (well usually).

Do want! I like my Perrin but sometimes find myself wanting some of the throaty character the Dezod has. Sounds very racey with that ACE header.

I actually just picked up this exhaust second hand. Would the stock (new) 2.5" gaskets work for the connections needed?

They should yes, all standard flanges.

How was the alignment of the tips with rear diffuser? It looks pretty spot on in the pics, I'm just very particular about symmetry and fitment.
