Speakers adapter
 

Guys, I'm looking for speaker adapters (wires and supports), but it seems that Carboncarsystem doesn't sell them anymore.
May someone help, please?

Which speakers do you need an adaptor for? I made an adaptor for the door speakers out of sheet aluminum. I put 5.25 in the doors at first. Then later upgraded to 6.75 front speakers. I then used the speaker's circle shaped plastic ring that the grill mounts too. It fit under the door panel and kept the magnet from hitting the window. A Win - Win!


Wiring harness adaptors by Metra are inexpensive and work great. I have used them in many of my cars.

When searching for adapters I found a couple plastic versions like those from Metra but it seems you then are required to find a speaker that fits the adapter. I then found this site which will cut out the speaker section as needed for your chosen speaker.

I need adapter for front woofers and cables for all speakers. I’d prefer something plug’n play...

I am currently up to speakers in my mod list for my BRZ. I'm not a newb but I am no expert either. Just to be clear, for the front door speakers they are a size 6.5? and I can buy any speaker I wish as long as I get the wire harness adapter? I know metra sells one. But what is with the actual speaker adapter, is that optional or do I need one for installation? I am talking about the white cardboard looking piece that goes behind the speaker in the photo above me. Thanks!

No you dont need an adapter to install aftermarket speakers just simply cut the connector off and it'll work. i decided to keep the old mounting bracket and mounted Kickers on my doors so i kept the connector and soldered the cabled into the connector for easy removal. I only did this in case i ever wanted to upgrade my speakers again it would be a lot easier for me. its not required though and its a lot easier if you do cut the connector off.

Ah I forgot to say thanks! I installed my door speakers last Saturday, they sound great. I want to do the dash speakers now, not the tweeters but the 3.5's. Will that also be plug and play?

Just to update: I bought Kicker specific adapter for doors and dash directly from Japan...

for the dash I gutted the stock speaker out of the basket and mounted the speaker to the basket. worked out well. used a Dayton audio 4" ref

Hey how did you install the dash speakers? I bought the correct harness, connected it to my after market speaker then plugged the harness into the pin on the dash. But when I try to play music they don't work. All the other speakers still function properly, its just the dash that does not work. I don't get it?

I at one point did use the stock harness, and if you have the tweeter in place it should work, the mids 2ch is parallel wired to the tweeters 4ch harness (2 in 2 out iirc, [out,in,in,out]. However I am no longer using that wiring. I switched to using some generic passive 3 way crossovers a few years ago and powering everything off those instead, it does actually lead to an improvement in sound quality as opposed to just running a bunch of speakers full range, or with single order crossovers on them like in the stock configuration.

Oh so the dash speakers will only work once the tweeters are connected as well? When I was testing my new dash speakers I still had the tweeters disconnected, which is when I noticed the dash speakers were not working. So once I connect the stock tweeters then the dash speakers will work? Thank you

It should, yes. Just be aware that the stock mid has a cap on it to give it a rolloff, and is wired in parallel to the tweeter, which gives a net 2ohm load to the head unit, the stock tweeter and mid are both 4 ohm. If your new mid does not have a cap you will give it full signal straight from the headunit.
