Smell during Sport Mode?

2018 GT86 AT. When I try sport mode while driving especially when I accelerate, I smell gas or something. It’s gone when I turn it off.

You're still under warranty. Its probably nothing, but have your dealer check it out.

motorsport, put that thing in sport.

That's the stench of raw torque-ponies.

JD001 06-13-2018 02:29 PM

Does the smell accompany a change of undergarments?

smells on hands after driving, smells after turning sport mode on..what's next, smells before you get in the car?

....in all seriousness there is absolutely NOTHING in the car that changes mechanically/physically between sport mode being on or off, it is entirely all electronic and merely forces the trans to use the lower gears more often..my vote is you're just smelling the car breaking in especially with the higher revs that come from using sport mode and you only think it is caused by sport mode ^^

Reminds me of a story a friend told me many years ago.

He went on a driving trip to Florida from Toronto with his parents. During the trip he developed an upset stomach and just as they passed thru an industrial area he slipped out an SBD.

His mother, thinking it was the smell of the smoke stacks said, " Poo, Pittsburgh!"

*** Sport mode changes traction and stability variables, not throttle or power or anything like that. If you smell gas and are driving hard, then you might be smelling unburnt fuel. Or you are smelling plastic or rubber and are confusing the smells.

I think he's referring to sport mode on the AT which increases the shift points, not the VSC sport mode

yup, especially since the refreshed models no longer say "VSC SPORT" and just say "TRACK"
