How long to wait before getting alignment after lowering car
So my RCE Yellow Springs are actually out for delivery today. Didn't expect them this soon sine I just ordered them Wednesday evening. But with them supposed to come in today, I'm thinking I might try to get them installed this weekend since the wife is working Saturday morning.
My question is, I know i have to get an alignment after they're installed, but since the springs need time to settle, how long should I wait before getting the alignment done? Should I try to get it done a.s.a.p., or wait a week? Two weeks? With my work schedule during the week, I don't have a lot of free time so I'm trying to plan things out on how I should do this properly. Thanks for any help! |
RCE has said typically anywhere from a day to a week is fine.

Drive it to the alignment shop and get it aligned. Will be fine

Between ASAP and a week is fine.

I have the same question. So I'm installing my coilovers next week hopefully but I'm also getting new wheels in a week or two so is it recommended to get a alignment after I install coilovers or wait for the wheels to get an alignment?

Thanks for the info. Might be at the later end of the range, as even if I do get the springs installed on Saturday, I typically leave for work around 4:30 a.m. during the week and don't get home until around 5:00 p.m.. Usually get out a couple hours earlier on Fridays, so I'll probably see if I can find a place local to me that can handle lowered cars to do the job Friday afternoon. Unless I can find a place that's open late in the evenings, in which case I can get it done earlier in the week. This is all assuming I'm able to get the springs put in tomorrow. Never done the job before, and so I'm a little nervous about tackling this for the first time! |
here you go :)

Yeah, took a look at that last night. And the kit just arrived, and that also includes instructions. Doesn't seem too difficult, but my father-in-law was going to sit with me while I was doing it as he's got a lot more experience working on cars than I do. He wasn't going to do any of the work, since he's been battling cancer and he gets tired really easily, but I would feel more comfortable having a second set of eyes looking things over. So a lot depends on if he's feeling up to it or not (and I have to do the work over at their house anyway since I just have a gravel driveway/garage floor which isn't ideal for using jacks/jack stands). |
200 miles. Driving compresses the springs better than letting the car just sit.
