Wow. $900.

Yea, I haven't figured out why Pioneer won't sell these in the US (this isn't the only model they've had this is just a newer iteration of it). You could order one from Australia but the radio would not function, if that matters to you.

I've contacted Pioneer before about 200mm radios in the US, and unfortunately they do not have plans to sell them here.

While that radio does look nice, it would be a shame if it had touch sensitive volume buttons.

I literally just discovered this model today while researching the Kenwood DDX917WS. Looks like a better option and I found some ebay links shipping to the US from Malaysia. Just gotta see how reputable that is...

Edit: Ebay Link

Why doesn't the radio work? The Kenwoods people get from Australia seem to work.

That's $900 AUD which is ~$685 USD. Not cheap, but not as bad as it sounds. Granted, shipping probably won't be cheap either.

This^...The radio on my older 917ws worked fine. And so does radio on my new 918ws.

Happy to confirm that their units are very responsive and easy to use. The other consideration though is warranty or lack thereof if shipped to an unsupported region.

Maybe Australia has the same system we do then, I know that there are some issues with radios between some regions, similar to DVD players depending on the radio standards. Not sure about the maps either, if you plan to use the NAV.

Doesn't have built in nav, uses the phone app through carplay or android auto.

Which I must admit is without a doubt is better than any navigation based on garmin or navteq or the like. Google maps and waze perform way better and have constant map updates and works perfectly in the android auto eco system.

The radio issue is due to having differing frequencies relegated by governments and communication standards between countries. I found this because my CX-5s mazda connect system firmware was inadvertently updated to an EU firmware base. As such the radio channels were off ever so slightly and couldn't get proper channels.

Looking at this, it looks like it'll be fine here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...s_in_Australia

IIRC, Europe (or parts of it) use the same 0.2mhz spacing, but on even decimals instead of odd.

I've also had at least one aftermarket head unit that worked with 0.1mhz spacing on FM so you could get odd or even decimals.
