AC failed under 6 years.

Went to use the AC the other day, only blowing pure hot air. It sounds like the compressor is cycling on, but it might be a relay clicking. There's a hissing sound from behind the dash, only when AC is on.

Is there any known issues to look for? From what I can guess, the system still has pressure if the compressor is actually cycling on. Possibly the condensor?

Fail? More like you ran out of the refrigerat.
Either take it to a shop or buy a refill kit at any auto parts store and do it yourself.

I'd suggest you take it to a shop and have them "fix" it.

See ...... how simple that is ......:)

Would the compressor clutch still cycle on if it was out of refrigerant? My understanding is that there's a pressure switch and the compressor clutch wouldn't engage if there's no pressure in the system?

If it is cycling it probably just low on refrigerant. The low pressure switch is probably around 5psi. No need to vacuum if the system still has pressure. If it continues to leak down and you replace a part then replace the reciever drier and vacuum it down prior to service.
