ILX-007e -> How to wire a custom volume knob/control?

Hi all,

Am new to the forums however have been searching and searching but cannot find an answer.

I currently have a BRZ with an Alpine ILX-007e head unit installed, the unit is great except the volume controls are just terrible.

Does anybody know how to wire in some kind of volume knob, or how to tap into the volume up and down to have buttons elsewhere? Even just which wires to tap.

Thanks,

V

You could use the steering wheel control interface. It will require some customization.

Thanks, i assume you mean one of these? https://www.alpine.com.au/shop/proce...ntrol/swc-c20/

Has anyone here done that before?

EDIT: okay I've gone down a big rabbit hole of research, will be buying some parts and trying this out. Not sure I can get a volume knob working though, maybe just buttons :(

I think a cheaper generic adapter will be fine, you'll just need some knob that has unlimited turning, and a logic unit to convert the left and right turns to distinct"buttons" . I have not personally looked into it but I'm sure it's out there.
