Ghost cam progress?

Noticed there was an old post about tuning AVCS at idle to achieve a ghost cam effect. Is there any progress on this?

Why it ask in the thread where you found it so people know what you are talking about?

Hopefully not.

Detuning the car to make it sound like a 40 year old vehicle isn't exactly progress.

You know what the beauty is though? Unlike other mods that are aesthetic only and ruin your car *cough*stance*cough*, a ghost came tune can be made to only "detune" at idle and to go back to working normally as soon as you move.

I love the idea of the ghost came tune if it can work that way.

Except that it IS aesthetic only. It has no purpose other than to make your car seem like something it isn't. It doesn't improve performance, and you can't be certain you're not increasing wear with a change to the stock tune. It's basically the audio equivalent of putting big red caliper covers on your car hoping people who don't know any better think you have big brakes.

Instead of "ghost cam," it should be called "poser cam."

I should re-state, I meant Unlike other mods that are ALSO aesthetic only, this one won't ruin your car.

Further clarification- such as slamming your car or stretched tires or stance

Something like window tint will ruin your car?

It's because of the Mustang goobers. Someone with a '60s Mustang shows up at a meet with an aggressive cam in a big V8 with the mixture leaned out so it lopes heavily at idle, and everyone turns to see what's rolling in. Owners of more recent Mustangs who bought them to impress other people in the Walmart parking lot on Saturday night are envious because their machines don't turn heads like that. So somebody came up with the idea of creating a "ghost cam" tune that would make it sound sort of like an older cammed engine through the magic of inefficient tuning.

Now the disease is spreading to other cars. I doubt most of the ricers trying to do this even know what it is they're trying to mimic. They just hear about the "ghost cam" in the Mustang that makes it skip and stumble and say, "Derrr, I wanna make my car sound like a Mustang with three plugs fouled out too!" It's just poser bandwagon nonsense that doesn't impress anybody except other posers.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about destructive mods like widebody kits that require cutting or similar permanent changes that some people find distasteful, not window tint.

Ah ....... ha! Now I get it ......thanks for the explanation .....

Sort of like back in my day, when we had manual chokes on cars...... when cruising through the drive around burger place, we could pull the choke half way out and any ol stove bolt 6 or flathead V-8 could be made to sound and smell like, a big ol V-8 with a high lift cam.........:party0030:

Oh god this is a thing? I have obviously lead a sheltered life these last few years. This is as bad as those tunes to make it backfire on purpose.
