Proclip phone mount does not fit 2018 BRZ Limited
 

Bought the ProClip mount for my new 2018 BRZ Limited. Because of the new 7" infotainment system, the mount covers all of the controls on the right side of the screen. It will fit the 2018 Premium, however, because that still has the 6.2 inch infotainment unit. I don't know about the Toyota 86, however. So before you order, check it out.

I've also contacted ProClip to tell them about this problem. I'll post any answers I get back from them. I've used ProClip for years on all sorts of cars, and have had this issue twice before with new cars. In both cases, they eventually came out with one that fit properly, but it took them several months to do so. I don't know if the low volume of the twins -- and especially the limited model, will inhibit them from making one that fits....

Thanks for the head's up. Just picked up my 2018 BRZ Limited yesterday and was wondering what to do about a phone mount. I had picked up one of the ones that mount into the CD slot before the car came in, only to realize that I don't think the newer radio has a CD slot (will double check on that when I leave for work this morning)!

Was considering going with ProClip, as that's what I had on my previous car, but it sounds like that won't work either. Not sure what to do at this point then, as I really didn't want to get one of the windshield mounted models.

A member on here that goes by Syience makes some nice 3D printed mounts for the 86. I would think that they would fit the BRZ as well but you could check with him.

I sent a note to ProClip and they said there was a warning in the fine print that it may interfere with some of the controls. It actually covers some of those controls. I told them this mount should not be recommended at all for this model. Given Android Auto, there is less of a need to have it show, so I ran a USB cable from the port to the back of the center console where the phone now resides. I don't text and drive so it works for me.

ProClip refused to give a refund for my dash mount, so I have a new one here that will fit all BRZ/86's except the 2018 BRZ Limited/tS. If anyone is interested, PM me for a half priced bargain. I'd hate to throw it away....

Easy to pop off the front mount arm and pop on a Scosche magnetic mount.

Had to do a small amount of dremeling to the inside edge of the passenger side dash panel, but happy with the results.

TofuJoe: isn't dash single-piece on your 2017'? Where do you mount it then?

No need to. Photos are already in product link, that's why i asked, as previously got impression that for all MY2017 dash is single piece. But probably that's FR-S/GT86 change then.

So I found a ProClip solution. I'm using an adjustable console mount:

Just make sure you cinch it up tight when installing. Works perfectly for me and isn't far away on the dash. Looks fairly clean and only partially covers the Track button which I almost never use. That said, I can still easily reach that button if needed -- even with the phone on....

reaching it is one thing. display being close enough to windscreen, to not divert eyes (and attention) far - another.

I'm in the same boat with the 2020 BRZ tS - ordered the ProClip mount recommended for the car, and it doesn't fit given the width of the new Starlink infotainment touch screen. ProClip customer service says "you didn't read the fine print stating that the mount covers the radio controls on some models, so you should use the steering wheel control knobs." Well, the right hand side of the touch screen is where most Android Auto enabled apps have their controls, so a mount that covers the right edge of the touchscreen is a non-starter.

I'm going to try your suggestion. What is the ProClip part number for the angled ball adapter you're using between the console mount and the phone holder?
