GPS Issues with Joying HU

I'm having issues getting consistent GPS signal with my Joying HU JY-TL123N2 with Android 6.0. I'm using the GPS that came with the unit and have tried placing it in a couple spots in the dash. Immediately after I've placed it I usually get good signal and Google maps places me perfectly even while moving, but then the next day it has a lot of difficulties and can only intermittently place me.

Has anyone else had this issue? I'm considering trying this cable to just use the OEM GPS unit to see if that's the issue: https://car-solutions.com/en/adapter...baru-mazda.php

I'm also thinking there's a way to have the HU read GPS from my phone through bluetooth, but I'd prefer not to do that.

No issues with GPS on my Joying HU. Where have you placed the GPS unit? Are the connections nice and tight?

Have you tried using a different nav app? Just to rule out it being a software problem. Google maps doesn't run very well on my HU. I use waze instead.

I placed it on the metal "shelf" right behind the HU like the DIY for this head unit said to. I then tried putting it in another location further up and towards the passenger side to try and get a better signal. I'm pretty positive the connection is fine, I've gone into the car settings and checked and seen that I'm getting poor satellite signals even though google maps wouldn't place me. I'll double check though.

It's totally possible that it's a nav app problem, I'll try using waze today. I just really like google maps so that would be disappointing if I couldn't use it.
