Warranty Voids

Will an axel back exhaust void my warranty? I've heard Subaru is pretty picky but the parts guy I've talked to hasn't even heard of the term 'axel back' so I assume he's an idiot. any help will be appreciated!

If any other mods I can do without voiding the warranty, pls lemme know!

Nothing "voids" a warranty. They can refuse service if the mod could be proved to directly or indirectly have caused the issue but that is about it. An axle back would be hard to prove that it caused any issue.

Nobody can give you a list of what will and will not be accepted. Much of it depends on the dealer and what they will tolerate. Technically speaking if you change ANY part of the car and they can in any way associate it with what failed they can deny warranty.
Transmission went and you have a weighted shift knob. No warranty (maybe).
Door falls off and you have a weighted shift knob. Covered.

I put an axle-back on my car 2 days after I bought it, and took it to a Subaru dealer during the duration of my warranty, and never had an issue. In fact it was never even brought up.

That being said, some dealers are more "sticky" than others on stuff like this, so it could totally depend on how lenient your local dealer is too, and as Mr. Coat up there said, they would only refuse warranty service if the modification was deemed to be a direct cause of the issue that is needing warranty coverage.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum, ckilburn......

Your second question is almost impossible to generalize an answer for.

It would depend upon what was modified and what failed on the car.

Using @Tcoat 's guidance and applying common sense, will get you in the ball park ....... however, the dealer/manufacturer has the final say so.

Absolutely nothing went wrong with my car during warranty, so it was a moot point. Well built i would say.
