This made me chuckle so I thought I'd share...

I was looking at cars and saw this listing:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...za-wrx-sti-13/

Than I noticed this comment:

Aside from the whole vape pen thing, that is one clean STI. Best of wishes to its next owner.

The seller is masterfully trolling the STi community...

"I purchased this car for my wife but a few months later after buying this car, we picked up a [brown] 2013 Cadillac CTS-V wagon 6 speed manual that my wife loves more than this car, so she told me to sell it. =P"

It had surface rust on the suspension components. Not worth scrape value!

I mean, obviously, the original owner is some kind of depraved-hearted monster. Said monster took a new STi in WRB with gold wheels and left it outside in Michigan for a decade.

BringATrailer, more like BringAPitchfork.

Yeah...I was pretty excited when I saw the listing until I saw that part. I'm surprised the auction went to $20k and even more surprised the reserve was not met. The images show what appears to be a substantial amount of work performed...sadly, on a car that is so low-mileage, arguably one of the cooler body styles of its generation, and what I would argue to be the coolest color for that car, with some of the neatest OEM wheels to ever ship on a car that wasn't priced more than a house.

No idea what that car would go for if it was pristine on the undercarriage as well, but I'm willing to bet it would go for more than the 2018 STI I'm looking at. The desirability factor on that car IMO is approaching the Integra Type R...as is the frequency that you find someone selling low-mileage, unmodified examples.

I was being sarcastic. The "undercarriage" rust was some cosmetic surface rust on the suspension. An hour with a wire brush and some black paint and as good as new. The floor panels in the pics look to be pristine and still in original paint.

How it should have come from the factory!

I was referring to this image - I'm far from an expert on cars so do correct me if I am wrong (I may very well be). It appears to me to have had a pretty substantial amount of work done to it? Or is it nothing more than superficial?

I don't like the new layout on Bring-a-Trailer.

I like being able to filter on country and then seeing all those completed auctions at the bottom.

The description says they reseated the seams and that was it. No holes or anything else. All that paint you see is original. It is just buffed back to do the seams. That is an outstanding underbody for a 14 year old car.
