17x7.5 vs 18x7.5 wheel
 

Hi Guys,

I currently have stock wheels which are 17x7.5 48 offset.

Do you think 18x7.5 48 offset will fit without any issue?

Im asking this because I will keep the stock suspension and I will not lower my car.

someone told me that stock suspension can't handle 18x8, so what about 18x7.5?

If only there were a sticky thread somewhere, perhaps at the top of the wheel and tire section of the forum, which could link to the information you need...that'd be just great. Maybe if it had a catchy name like "Will this fit?", so people would see it easily...

I didn't plug in your values since you didn't mention what you want for tires, but off the top of my head I don't see why 18x8 wouldn't work.

I might use tire that comes with BTZ TS wihich is P215/40R18

So plug it into the tools he linked to, start using the information and resources already available to you (like the SEARCH feature and very helpful technical guides located all over this forum), and quit making a bunch of useless/repeat threads.

Just curious is this a stock 86 wheel in 17x7.5? Is that the TRD wheel?

I thought all stock 86 wheels were 17x7 w 48 offset

No idea what you're searching then. I typed "18x7.5 fitment" and got 25 thread results. The 1st and 3rd results both led to the wheel directory, which has plenty of examples of wheels with similar specs that could answer your questions or at least give you an appropriate existing thread in which to ask your question. Sometimes you have to do some digging.

1. OEM wheels are 17x7 with a 48 offset (not 7.5)
2. There is no performance reason to go to 18's especially if you are keeping the same offset.
3. If you are keeping the stock suspension, it means you are not racing the car. Therefore, there is no reason to go beyond 215's or 225's for the width of the wheel. Both of these will fit on 7", 7.5", and 8" rims.
4. 17's will give you a slightly better ride and protect the rim more as there is more sidewall. 18's can give slightly better cornering, but the increase is so slight I doubt if you would notice it.
5. If you have that money burning a hole in your pocket, buy better tires. That is the one thing that will make a big difference if you have OEM tires.

I started a whole thread on this topic and have ended up keeping the 17" OEM rims but changing the tires to 225/45/R17 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S -- the same model that is on the tS (except the tS has 18" rims). I really wanted to justify buying new rims, but in the end, it would have been only for looks. If you are just in it for looks, buy what you want and forget that it might negatively impact performance.

(Note that the wheels in that thread are insanely light at something like 16 pounds...obviously, most 18-inch wheels will not save weight over an OE 17-inch wheel, and can entail a loss in acceleration and fuel economy, with often limited handling gains in regards to street performance.)

It's all up to offset of the wheel. I've ran 18x8 +35 (225/40 tires) w stock suspension without any rubbing.

As long as you accommodate width of the wheel with offset of the wheel, it won't rub.

For number 1, It is 17x7.5. My car is BRZ performance package.
Yea, I am not racing, and only reason that Im considering 18 wheel is for look, but I am concerning that 18" will make my car look like off-road car, and fuel efficiency bad.
I am considering either 17x7.5 or 18x7.5 (JDM STI wheel) now with 225/45/R17 (or R18) Michelin Pilot Sport 4S -- the same model that is on the tS
