15x8 +20 Rota Slipstream

Managed to fit these 2 weeks go on my brz :) Had to shave down the balljoints to get the wheels to clear. They cleared the brakes front and rear too.

Wheel specs are as follows:

15x8 +20 with 225 45 15 hankook rs4

More pics upon request if ya'll want.

Tires look a bit too small. Any reason why you went with 15's?

Pitty that shaving down was needed. I hoped for another 15 addition that would clear brakes/suspension as is.

I bet if they were a normal offset they would fit. Also note that all you need to do is switch to the old WRX 4 pots and everything can fit.

Shorter tire should give me a gearing advantage, and make the car feel more peppy in theory. Going to A & B this soon as I can get out on track.

It comes down to barrel thickness, a "normal" offset would still rub on the barrel.

Ill try to get more pics to show where we had to grind down. It wasn't too much honestly. Figured I'd try something new, I previously had 17x9 +35 rpf1s so I wanted to switch it up.

That's the point, that 15" i'm interested in, are ones that would fit over stockers. All these years and still just one 15" of confirmed fitment listed in wheel directory :/
And i'm strongly against retrofitting brakes from different cars with different brake bias, even if they mechanically fit. Though at least better wheel clearance or lighter weight are better reasons then just wishing to get brembo branding bling for cheap.

Im going to test fit a set of kosei k1s in 15x8 +22, hoping the barrel will clear! I have a set of te37s im 15x7.5 but they need to be redrilled to 5x100. The te37s look like they will clear easily being theyre much thinner.

icybrzzz: i'd rather look for 15x6 +38 (or 5.5 or 5) like only ones (VW Avus wheels) that fit. For example there were few 15x6.5 (eg. braid acropolis +45), that cleared brakes .. but rubbed on ball joint of tie-rod. Narrower and/or of right offset should ease getting that ball joint outside wheel judging by pic in that braid's wheel fitment test post. Pitty that even if by chance your x8 would fit, i wouldn't go for them, as fitting some 175-185-195 winter tires on such would be overstretching too much. It might work for some gravel or tarmac rally-ish use with wider tires though.
Damn, i wish for someone to finally make stock brakes fitment template (including said ball-joint). Since long ago i wanted to get narrow 15" set for winter, but due fitment templates available only for aftermarket BBKs, process of finding wheels that would clear is much harder.

Ah, makes sense since it gives you more acceleration at the expense of top speed. Cheaper than a final drive swap I suppose. lol

Yes exactly, didn't cost me much to give it a shot so I figured why not.

Did you have to grind anything in the rear? Or was that only in the front?
