Weird sound from radio/mid dash
 

Hello, as of yesterday my car started making this noise from the middle dash. I've put my ear close to it and it seems to be coming out from the radio. The car is 2014 with 35k miles on it. I've searched around the forums but have not found this, anyone else have this problem or is aware of it?

I had that specific headunit on my first FRS and IIRC it had a similar sound to that as well. I would usually hear it whenever I turned my car off.. I always assumed it was from the headunit itself, maybe something to do with the CD player but I never bothered really looking into it. Pretty easy to unplug it and see if the sound goes away.

There is a cooling fan in the HU that sometimes goes bad. There are several recorded cases on here but yours is the worst.

Sound continues with climate controls off and every variation possible. It's random as the video shows and doesn't happen when the car is off

Will do to today. Where you able to fix it?

The fan is part of the head unit. Has nothing to do with the heater.

yes the sound went away.....aka it got totaled and I got another FRS with a different headunit that has yet to exhibit that sound :D

Thanks for the link man, I was actually searching for a thread on it. I'm going to double check and if worse come to worse I'll contact them. The sound was greatly reduced today for some reason.

The sound comes and goes according to the reports. There are many threads about it but they are weird titles that won't show up on a search.
