what calipers for solid rotors
 

Long time lurker, first time poster...

After 48k miles, my '14 BRZ's front rotors have become glazed. Street only, but a lot of it in steep mountains, which might be part of the cause. The dealer (prepare for shock) recommended replacement with stock all around, an idea that I am not thrilled with.

I had great results with EBC USR rotors on my wife's Outback and other previous cars, and ordered the BRZ kit without realizing that the rear rotors of that are solid, not vented like the OEMs, and do not work with the stock calipers.

I can take a minor hit and return the rear kit, but am wondering what other calipers would fit the BRZ and work with solid rotors. Thoughts on whether it would be worth that, or should I just find a set of ventilated rears?

Return the solid rear disc. The vented rear is basically a BBK even though it only single piston.

Got it, will do, and found the right part number. The restock fee will be my stupid tax payment for researching parts on Amazon instead of here....

As far as I know, none of the US-market BRZ/FRS come with solid rear rotors. That's just a euro thing where the base model came with smaller brakes. So there's no reason for any vendors in the us to be selling them for these cars- they're all 294x24mm front and 290x18 rear (aside from the pp brembos).

They still do. I buy from RockAuto.com and they sell the solid rears as well. Ships internationally so maybe that's why? But I wouldn't just assume a vendor only sells for our market

Solid mean plain/blanks rotors?

^solid as in the whole rotor has no holes/veins in between the 2 braking surfaces for ventilation

Closing this out, got the right parts, and the results are great. Since it will probably take me another three years to rack up enough posts to get a "thank you" button for you, Zion and Jamal...
