Taken from Edmunds Inside line so take that for what it's worth. Is anyone considering waiting now? I am quite happy with my FR-S as I don't have to wait.

6. 2014 Scion FR-S Cabrio
Every motor journalist's favorite car of 2013 — whether it's a Subaru or a Scion — will be beheaded for 2014. Except for the new soft roof, don't expect a lot of other changes in the structure and substance of the FR-S. The 2.0-liter flat-4 engine will still be in front, the wheels in the back will still be driven and the handling will still be mind-bogglingly entertaining.

But that's only the start of the good news that's coming for these twins. See, there's this thing called forced induction...

5. 2014 Subaru BRZ STI
If there's one criticism of the Subaru BRZ that stings, it's that it doesn't have enough power aboard. Back in 2011 Subaru showed a lightweight BRZ STI concept with a tweaked valvetrain that the company said was good for 250 hp. That's up 50 horses over the regular BRZ, but hardly what the Subie hard-core have been hoping for.

Nope. What the enthusiasts really want is a blown Subaru STI with 300 or more hp. And the rumors keep coming in that that's what's actually coming. But don't necessarily expect it to be a turbocharger doing the heaving; there are some whispers out there that say a belt-driven supercharger will take up residence atop the flat-4. You know a blower, like on a Top Fuel dragster.

I wouldn't have been interested in this car if it was a drop-top.

Factory supercharger interests me greatly, however.

Yeah, I caught this on their website earlier, as well... I'm happy with my FR-S just the way it is... I'm thinking it may be a long while until a significantly upgraded-performance version comes along??

SC with 300hp FTW! by 2014 I should have enough money saved to buy it!! :)

No interest in a convertible, but a SC option will be nice.

Hmmmmmmmmm if true (STi blown), this changes everything. IF TRUE.

I would buy a drop top.

It would need to meet 2 criteria though:
-The chassis would need to feel very close to the coupe.
-Added power to handle the added weight of chassis reinforcement.

Even if it's not true, and they only upgrade the STi with 50 hp, via uncorked exhaust, higher redline/more aggressive ecu tune, upgraded valve-train and shave off even more weight, I'll still trade my FR-S in for one! :happyanim:

but the blower does sound amazing too, but I'm not going to get my hopes up...

I'll take a drop-top.... Viper! Sorry, the FR-S is exactly what it should be. The convertible ruins it for me.

dude how many times did toyota tell us there is no way this car is gonna be a convertible... I dont buy it.

Why ruin such an amazing car and make it heavier with a drop top. Now its gonna look like the eclipse... Pls. Tada San! No no no no no
