Aftermarket NA intake manifold progress?

I remember about a year ago seeing a lot of development on IMs for the FA20. Not seeing a whole lot of that anymore.

Any word on anything that's been happening?

I saw this one the other day, no details though.

Nobody could produce/design that is worth buying. There is no power gain from replacing intake and/or intake manifold. Short of FI, just do a header/tune and try E85 if you want anything beyond that.

I believe that to be an ITB manifold of some kind. You can tell by the lack of a throttle body where the end of the induction tube is.

I too was/have been interested in the production of an NA manifold. Lots of people tried, and a lot of them saw very little gain. It was very sad.

However, the one manifold that seems to do something is the JUN Auto GT Surge Tank. That price tag though. :p There was a guy on the forums with full bolt-ons NA, and then went ahead and threw this thing on and made another 12HP or something after a tune to account for the changes in airflow. Tempting, but that cost is unjustifiable unless you're just itching like mad. There's a post on here about it somewhere.

I never saw a dyno on the FBM, larger, intake, manifold for a FI or NA car. The biggest gains seem to be from a larger TB or ITB, but even then things might be minimal. Crawford power blocks might be the most proven intake add on...?

My guess is that the itb kits will give a nice bang under the curve but nothing up top due to runner length. Just a feeling based on one f.i. dyno and greddys claims.

Greddy sells an ITB setup that nobody has been willing to drop 3k on. other than that i've seen some supposed gains over 6500rpm with the 17+ red intake manifold that you can get for sub 400. I know the 17 manifold is good for 15ish in the 350whp range when boosted

This is the SARD ITB kit. Both this and the Greddy kit are priced at $3k. There's another thread on here talking about ITB options.

The cost is crazy, plus it makes it's power by pushing the powerband higher than the OEM motor can spin..

"The inertial supercharge peaked in the stock in about 7200rpm, but we calculated a port cross section and the port length and designed it in about 8000rpm to become greatest."

Same thing the Crawford blocks do, but in the opposite direction. It's all about runner length and plenum size.

There are more options, but they are expensive.

I actually like the Crawford blocks, installed recently. Plus it's $300 vs $3,000 so that's a no brainer. The BPB + Openflash tune completely killed my torque dip and the car pulls extremely smooth. No idea if I'm getting any actual HP gains but it just feels nicer overall so I'm very happy.

Has anyone bolted on a 2016-2018 aluminum manifold to their older motor?

If I came across as saying they are bad, that's not what I meant. I was just pointing out that the blocks bring maximum power lower in the rpm range by increasing the length of the intake runners, where the intake mentioned does the opposite by decreasing the length of the intake runners.
