Desperately Need Help With Wheel Fitment on Stock Suspension
 

Hey guys. So I'm running into a bit of a problem with my wheel fitment. I've been really keen on getting some Rays Gram Light 57DR 18x9.5 with a +38 offset with a 245/35 tire (as said on Ft86speedfactory's video). However, I did contact someone locally that worked with 86's and they said that 9.5's wouldn't fit in the front and it might with spacers. I'm not 100% sure who to follow so I need help with this! Thanks a lot if you can!

P.S. I want to keep stock suspension.

9" wide +42 is probably the most extreme I've heard that fits stock suspension with appropriately sized (255) tires (see http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42746). But I woudn't be surprised if 255s that run wider than normal rub.

Inner clearance difference of that compared to stock: (9"-7")/2 * (25.4mm/1") - (48-42) = 19.4mm closer to strut than stock

Same calculation for your wheel of interest: (9.5-7)/2 *(25.4/1) - (48-38) = 21.75mm closer to strut than stock than stock

That is 2.35mm more. That's really pushing it. I've never heard of anyone running a 9.5 wheel in front with stock suspension. Unless someone can say otherwise, I wouldn't risk it. Owners generally agree that 9" +38 is safe. Thats a 15.4mm delta from stock or a 6.35mm delta from the wheels you want.

They're going to poke a lot... that's just completely the wrong size for stock suspension.

Try the 17x9+38 with 245/40/17

Look at the specs of the tire width. More important for fitment then rim width unless your going super stretched of course. I believe I seen many people with a 17x9+42 with a 245/40r17 and no rub in the front. That is 9.7” wide tire. Same width as 245/35/18 i would not be surprised if your setup actually fit. If not I bet a 3mm spacer which is perfectly safe would make up the difference you needed. But I have personally not tested or seen this setup.

u can fit 17x9 +38 if your camber is at -1.5 or less.

I've seen someone run 235/40 with that wheel setup on stock suspension and it fit. 245 you might have a bit of rubbing without a 5mm spacer.

I think 17x9+38 with 245/40/17 will fit in front with -0.1 -0.2 camber

As stated above by DarkSideFRS it will fit with -1.5. That was my setup as well before I went coilover. Any more and the tire will rub the spring perch.

I rub at full lock with 225/45/17 on 17x8+45 at full lock if i hit any uneven pavement while driving :(

How come?

I've been running 18x9.5 +38, 245/35/18 for a couple of years and 10's+ thousands miles on stock suspension. No rubbing what-so-ever. The front does poke a bit.

I just went to 265's on the rear and am getting ready to move to 8.5's in the front with lowering springs.

Only thing i can come up with is track driving puts a lot more forces than street. I was on -2.5 or 3 camber but i dont rub the strut so not sure if thats what cause it. 225/45/17 is also very slightly larger diameter than stock. If you are an aggressive driver i dont know about 9.5. plus you wont be able to have as much camber so you cant utilize all the tire.

I had 18x8.5 +45 in front in the past and didnt rub but i didnt have any seat time back then either. Havent run them since i got these 17x8

I guess it all depends on your priorities
