Do you think some of the first production run issues will be fixed as part of MY13?

Hi everyone,

I had been reading the forum for quite some time, then I disappeared for awhile, after which the car went on sale and the forums of course, exploded! I searched for my question for about an hour last night, so please (please!) don't flame me – I tried my best to see if it had been previously posted.

I'm interested in purchasing the car, but was wondering what are the chances that many of the issues new car owners are experiencing (rattles, stalls, chirps, paint, etc) will be fixed in the upcoming batches of 2013 cars being produced? or do you think Toyaburu will just wait til 2014 to implement any fixes?

Thanks for your (non-trolling) responses....

Rattles MIGHT be 'fixed' but i doubt - this car is meant to be light weight - just put a .2 cm foam padding between panels and rest of the car
Paint is a subaru thing.
Stalling is all driver's fault - haven't heard of anybody stalling because the car.
etc - don't know anything under this

Any real issues will be fixed, such as fogging tail lamps. Nit picky things won't be. I can't really think of anything serious going on with this car.

A guy in an Auto had his stall...how is that his fault?

I haven't heard of that one :X
can you send me a link? thanks
This definitely is something that will be looked into.

haha...no. It's somewhere in the idle problem/stalling problem thread but it would take forever to find that one post.

edit: Found it http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=8285&page=28 post number 608...and I don't think that was the one I was even refering to...it's definitely a problem...

I'm lucky and mine hasn't stalled yet. It does have the same problem though...wonky idle, drops to about 400rpm, shudders a bit, then kicks back up to 800rpm...it's a problem with the car and not operator error...

Oh yes. Many issues are quietly fixed on the production line without any formal announcements, tsb's, or recalls. Even during this model year I expect the cars produced near the end of the production cycle won't have some of the quirks that the early runs did.

Regardless, I'm waiting for MY 2013 just because I don't want to deal with a lot of annoying little issues (idle, chirp, poor fitting panels), and by then someone should be offering some aftermarket tails so I can get rid of the stock abominations...

thanks to everyone who responded; this is kinda what I meant - i want them to fix the relatively major things (the stall and idle issue, i know they are already fixing the condensing tail lights) but also some of the "minor" things like the door panels and paint. I want to wait for that but not wait too long, I really don't want to have a rearview camera in the car, heh.

That sounds like could be fixed with a flash to the computer, ive seen on many vehicles, that sometimes the manufacturers aim for idle extremely low idle speed and sometimes disregard the extra loads the engine may have.

Yeah that isn't Stalling, that's just the RPM dipping.

I reread the link, my bad :X

I'm sure that will get dealt with, worry not.
A/T stalling is something that is unacceptable in the automotive market ~
and while that get's fixed they'll prob flash the ECU

This is just normal practice for car manufactures, alot of this stuff will be fixed. It would be bad business if they didnt. However I see the more important issues like the condensation and idle issue(if it is in fact an issue) to fixed over the rattles and squeaks.
