Recommended seats/mounts
Can anyone provide a list of some larger seats that fit properly in the 86 chassis? I need a "large" size seat width and height, for size reference I fit well in Sparco Ergo Large, Recaro SPG XL something along those lines.
For Mounts, here is what I am finding: VAC Floor Adapter & side mounts https://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac...brz-p3643.aspx G-speed floor adapter https://gspeed.com/product/brzfr-s86...ro-seat-mount/ PCI Seat Mount http://www.pci-racing.com/product/ad...e-seat-mounts/ For Seats, I need to go sit in a few more but wondering about fitment in the car Sabelt, OMP, Sparco, Racetech etc.. Please share a seat and mount package that you have been able to fit properly in the 86. Thanks! |
I have OMP WRC-R with Bride FG seat rails. Took a bit of finessing to install the seat/rail combo into the car but they fit perfectly and sit very low.
I previously had the OMP WRC-R paired with a Planted Seat bracket with OMP Side mounts and sliders but they sat too high for my liking. |

Do you still drive on the steeet at all? I was really hoping for a setup I could still use the 3 point and a 6 point and have the airbag system work properly. |

It sees VERY limited street use, basically to bed in new pads at midnight with no one around; make sure the brake bleed feels up to snuff before it goes on the trailer before an event ;) And back and forth to the gas station at track weekends. The harnesses are Schroth that have the ASM "failure fuse" in them, so not as likely to break my neck in a frontal impact, but no need to risk it...or bake in texas heat unnecessarily. There are none of those heavy airbags in the car anymore. Or headliner, AC, radio, trim...it's a track special at this point LOL. For what it's worth, the GSpeed guys are a top notch bunch. Their customer service is second to none!!! |

What did you end up going with? Trying to confirm what fits in the car. Looking at OMP HTE-R and Cobra Sebring GT. The Sabelt Taurus and GT-Pad look interesting too. |
I have the VAC motorsports kit and a Sparco Ergo medium in mine. I don't know specifically if the large fits unfortunately.

How do you like the ergo? I'm interested in the removable halos for mixed street/track use, but when I talked to the guy at Sparco he said they were really wide. Not sure how to square that with the measurements posted online though. There's no sparco dealer within 6 hours of me so it's hard to test them. Could I trouble you to check a couple of measurements? Interior width at hips, widest part at the shoulders, and height from the seat cushion to the top of the shoulder belt opening? I'm 6'4" with a 32 in. waist and finding the right seat has been... challenging. Thanks in advance. |
I like the Ergo. I'm a smaller guy at 5'8" 32 in waist.
I'll try to get some measurements later today if I can remember. If not, ping me again. |
The halos dont interfere in street driving as much as you think. I drove a miata with a Sparco Circuit occasionally on the street and it was fine. You just have to use your mirrors which you should be doing anyway.
The Ergo is big, at 6'2" 190 lbs I was swimming in it. gcranston Id try a Circuit. 32 waist you should fit fine unless you are a bodybuilder up top. You can take out the bottom cushion or use a thinner cushion if you need to lower yourself. I raced my miata with no cushion and it worked well. |

I'm posting some pics here in case anybody is wondering re: the seat fitment. For reference, I'm 5'8", about 160-165. I'm wearing size 32 shorts with a belt on. Apologies for filthy car, I had a big off into the dirt. https://i.imgur.com/mFPT0Fu.jpg There's a bit of angle on the tape on some of these, I didn't back the car out of the garage for more space. https://i.imgur.com/wId0uY3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/j6JBAoo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/U05IR0N.jpg https://i.imgur.com/gkJLAwe.jpg https://i.imgur.com/V6YGtlY.jpg |
Awesome, thank you!
