Will's Torando Grey GTS
Hey Everyone...
I thought I would just create one thread to introduce my self and my cars. On Thursday I picked up my brand new GTS in Tornado Grey and I must say I couldn't be happier! But I will come back to the 86 in a sec. Personally I have always been a fan of the original AE86 I got a chance to drive one many moons ago and it is definitely up there with one of the funniest cars I have driven. It wasn't about power it but being light on its feet handling was great! and also so much fun to hold sideways too. http://www.hachiroku.com.au/forums/i...s/laughing.gif Reason I never bought a AE86 was the fact that I didn't want 2 project cars and working in Real Estate at the time I bought a 1ZZE Corolla instead as I love my Suzuki Cappuccino way too much to sell it. (there has been times where I have been close but it won't happen) http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...20372129_n.jpg About 2 years ago. My mate decided to sell his bright Yellow Lexus IS 200. After driving it there was something special about it and for those who don't know the IS/Altezza chassis was engineered by Nobuaki Katayama who also engineered AE86. Finally I got a car that shares the DNA with the Hachi!...and the IS definitely has the same characteristics as the AE86 and I think the IS200 is more of a modern day Hachi than say the Altezza or the 86 due to the fact that being only 114kw at the motor you really need to work it to be quick through you favourite road. Only issue with the IS was with tight corners you can feel the front end wanting to wash away even with sway bars, coilovers and braces. But apart from that it has been a great daily and an awesome car to drive. http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...2_448185_n.jpg Just working as a property photographer and travelling all over Sydney with also the possibility of going interstate next year I deceided it was time to upgrade my daily especially since the IS has 226,000kms and 26,000kms of that done this year alone. So I thought it was about time to purchase something brand new as I didn't want to deal with 2nd hand cars anymore and wanted something to last me at least 5 years. Thinking the 86 will be out of my price range and I was actually thinking about getting a Swift Sport......but as soon as Toyota released their prices I had to have one! Now here we are....I got myself a Tornado Grey GTS. After driving Putty Road today and yesterday I am in love! This car is just awesome around bends. I definitely feel the same DNA that is present in the original AE86 and the Altezza/IS chassis. Car is just so nimble and light on its feet. Finally there is a car on the market that is made for the driver! Plans are just to drive it, I will be keeping it stock at this point in time. Although I did put in my TRD knob that I had in my IS. Here are some pics from todays drive. http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...32714327_n.jpg http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...73553505_n.jpg http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...76538074_n.jpg http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...71346507_n.jpg http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...10482387_n.jpg http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...80702654_n.jpg http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...20262336_n.jpg http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...73998362_n.jpg |
Congrats on the 86, good choice, Pictures look brilliant, some of the best shots I have seen. Oh I am a big fan of the IS200
|
nice shots !

Thanks mate! I will definitely miss the IS though car handle just as good as the 86 (all based on the same car) but with the practically of having proper rear seats. But with the kms on it...I had to let it go. Spewing we never got the Altezza in Aus. In term of handling/power out put is they were identical to the 86.

However here is the part number on the TRD website. I'm sure any JDM parts person should be able to source one for you. http://www.trdparts.jp/english/parts_shift-knob.html |
Will!
You know my thoughts lad ;) |
Congratulations! Great looking car.
I have always had the hots for the charcoal(dark grey) colors. In fact, I was very close in purchasing my original family ride in this color. If only it wasn't for the delay that came with it. I ended up buying black. I really like the tachometer in black. Is that how the car is sold in Sydney? Wow. |
Thanks mate I'm really glad I went that colour. Tacho is white just how the photo came out.
|
Congrats! Beautiful photos.

Thanks mate!
Latest pics with the new plates. Thing I love most about my job is seeing random places like this and the fact I always have my camera on hand during work hours I thought it would be a great opporunity! http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8173/8...5682babb_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8032/8...dee36f4f_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8309/8...cdb20035_c.jpg |
