ABS and SAS came on after Coilovers installed
 

I got ABS and SAS came on after the coilovers installation tonight. Of course I haven't had time to get an alignment yet, so the steering wheel is off quite a lot. about 45 degree to the right with the wheel being center

I talk to a couple mechanic friends. they said that it would go away after an alignment. and all the toe in front are back to 0. It came on due to the car electronic steering and it senses the wheel is out of center.

Now i'm just a bit worry that after the alignment, I may have to bring it to the dealership to get it flashed. And it won't go away by itself.

Anyone went through the same issues that I have?

If So, Please shed some light for me.

You most likely damaged the wheel speed sensors/lines.

You've done something VERY wrong in my eyes.
I can't imagine why your steering is so far off from a simple suspension swap.
If done correctly you shouldn't have more than camber and toe to fix.

The steering wheel should still be centered either way.

We had to disconnect the sway end link, and installed new OEM endlinks as well.

I had Coilovers done on my previous car as well from Stock ride height to Coilovers the steering was off as well.

Car is about 1.5-1.6 inch lower from stock, with camber bolts, and the top hat maxed out on neg camber.

Just get it aligned and see if it fixes it, if it doesn't you likely damaged the wheel speed senor as Mike stated.

I just did my coils a couple months ago and my alignment only changed the toe slightly, but it was pretty even on both sides.

Got the car up in the air. And inspecting everything.

I think I figure out why the steering out of wack.

-maxed out neg camber from top hat
-additional camber bolts

I have close to -3 maybe a tad bit more camber in the front right now with the OEM alignment (assuming I had an alignment with OE suspension, I'm the second owner)

I think having a lot of camber will effect the toe dramatically.

Will update this thread after my alignment and corner balance!

If you've added camber even remotely evenly, like within half a degree L/R it shouldn't throw your steering that far out of whack.

I had a camber plate come loose on me after hitting a pothole, so left was full negative, right was full positive and I only had a slight ~10 degree angle to continue going down the freeway until I got home to fix it, iirc that would have been 1.5+ degrees different left to right.

45 degrees off center is something not right, but a good alignment tech can hopefully find and fix that without charging you an arm and a leg

I literally just fixed this problem but it was from me taking off the steering wheel. My wheel was about 30 degrees to the left. I had to take it to the dealer and asked them to recalibrate the steering angle sensor which foxed the problem and got rid of the lights. I also got a new clockspring off ebay but idk if that was necessary. Hope that helped. Ill link the thread that i made on the issue.

Taken a better picture in the morning.

It doesn't look that bad at all. This is the front wheel completely straight ahead.

I think after the alignment it should be fine.

I will update this thread just in case anyone run into the same issue that I am in the future.

I just went from stock to coilovers and -3.4° camber and only had .17° of toe to correct in the front.

Something more is going on here.

That said, I still think an alignment is a good start.

Good news update.

I mess around with the toe last night, and did a quick dirty alignment. and drove to work this morning with a steering wheel straight. all the lights came off.

Thanks everyone for the help and input! now I know its just the steering wheel sensor, sensing the wheel is off center.

off to the alignment rack I go!

Lol, my ABS, TCS and cruise lights came on after I put in rear LCAs and front camber bolts. An alignment solved all the things. I'm far from an expert but I think that when the car realizes it's that far out of spec, it trips those systems off
