The longest 1000 miles

Just picked up my new BRZ with 9miles on it. Now to wail until 1000miles so I can open this baby up. Do any of you guys have some break-in tips other then what it says in the manual?

Mr. Mcoupe 07-24-2012 05:37 PM

nope but CONGRATS! POST PICS!

Advice? Take it on a roadtrip on some back roads to speed up the break-in process and gain a higher level of familiarity with your new car. Half of my break-in miles came on a 500 mile road trip on July 4th with my wife.

Same here. I put 1200 miles on it the first week. About 800 miles to drive her from my home in Ohio (where the car was ordered) all the way down to Georgia for work. The rest was purely pleasure driving. I wasted so much gas just not being able to sit inside while she was sitting outside.

Congrats on the car.
People have different opinions when it comes to break-in period.
Here's the thread that talks about it.

first 400 vary rpms, don't go over 4k rpm, baby it bla bla bla

after 400 start giving it a little more love and getting to like 6-6.5k

1000 beat on it hard for like one gas tank then just drive normal after that

This is pretty much what I did, runs great now and I hit 1600 today.

I'm at 400 something and I think on my 1001 mile I'm going to bang the rev limiter, because damnit, that's what I bought it for!

Thanks for the reply everyone. Here is a picture of her on Day 1.

Thanks Dude, yeah I waited until the evening. I hate seeing pics of cars in the balzing sun!

Actually you should be increasing the max rpm as the miles increase so that when you close in on 1,000 miles you can red line the car.

Think about it...you've stayed at 4,000 RPM for 1,000 miles and then at 1001 miles, wham here comes the red line.

Does not make sense.
