2013 to 2017 trunk the same?

Hey everyone. I was just looking to confirm if the trunks for the earlier model frs are the same as the new 86s. Was looking at some lip spoilers but they always state "2013 style" or "2013 - 2015 frs". Thanks

*Edit* Also, any clue as to no matter what website you go to, the colour option for body kits are ALWAYS firestorm red? Because the 2017 + are painted in Ablaze red.

The trunks are pretty much the same, so spoilers will fit cars pre and post refresh.

As for the body kits in Firestorm, its because it's the better colour :party0030:

There are some structural changes to the 2017+ trunk, supposedly to accommodate the new spoiler.

I can't find a still working link for the document that shows the difference, but it shouldn't matter. I've yet to read anyone buying a spoiler from a pre-refresh model and it fail to install. Everything should mount up the same.

@mazeroni @Tcoat thanks for pointing that out - at least its internal changes, meaning all spoilers will still fit all MYs.

Yes. But if it already has a spoiler then the different holes will be an issue. If putting a 17 spoiler on a pre 17 car then you may need to reinforce the lid somehow although people have been putting aftermarket ones on with no issues.

Just so you know Ablaze was introduced in MY16 (IIRC)

Is this applicable to 86s without spoilers?

Just wanted to point out that the 2017 86 spoiler is identical to the original FRS spoiler.

Yes. It has been verified by a few. Makes economic sense to just have one trunk lid instead of holding two on the line.

Perfect, and mounting holes arent an issue as im just going to use 3m tape. Thanks !

Any holes and you might have issues.
