Pads not releasing enough on new dba4650s rotors
Hi, after hating my stock brakes at my first track day I decided to upgrade the pads/rotors/fluid.
I bought some dba4650s rotors with new high performance pads for the front. When putting the calipers back over the new rotors and pads it was extremely tight. When I looked into it further the dba rotors are 1mm thicker than oem (25mm compared to 24mm oem). DBA have confirmed these are the correct rotors and that 1mm thicker isnt a problem. The pads are rubbing on the rotor without my foot touching the brake pedal. The pads have a few bubbles where they have overheated. When I feel the caliper after a short gentle drive they are quite hot. The back dba rotors are identical to oem, the calipers fit over no problems and the calipers are cold after a gentle drive. Has anyone else experienced this with dba front rotors or any tips in general? I could grind down the pads a bit but they have a special bed in coating on top so I dont want to do that :(. |
Do you have any shims on the back of the pads? You can remove them for a little extra clearance and then reinstall after a bit of wear if you're getting noise.

Yes there are shims, thats a great idea!! Will try that

Installed the new pads without shims and no dragging! Rotor spins freely, thanks for the advice!
