Getting rear camber to 0
Sorry for multiple posts :) I’m trying to tune my suspension where I want it.
So I am on coilovers, 1.75” lowered. I also have SPC LCA’s. I’m wanting to get my rear camber as close to 0 as possible (-1 is fine). I’m currently sitting at -2.1* on each side. This is what alignment tech said: Left rear I could get to -1.3*, but right could only get as low as -2.1* camber. So I had to match them up at -2.1*. If you want any closer to 0, you’ll have to get upper control arms. So.. after some research upper control arms look to be about 500$, and i’ve heard install is a PITA. Should I just raise my car up a fair amount? Are there any other parts I could look at getting? |
I believe you can get different lower control arms. SPC using a bushing style adjustment for camber. SPL control arms for example, use a rod end that can give much greater adjustment.

You should be able to get close to -1 with that drop and SPC arms. I'm not sure your tech knows what he's doing if he can only get -2.1. At worst, if your arms can't make it into spec you could try a different lca that doesn't utilize an oblong bolt for adjustment such as Stance, Velox, etc.

When/if fitting SPC arms, don't use their toe-kit, if you want 0 to -1 camber imho. One may need to run higher camber with using it, while still having reasonable toe settings.

I did not use the toe bushings and got something like .05 toe in and -1 degree rear camber, but I have room to spare on that oblong washer if I want to reduce camber even more. One thing I have found though with alignment techs- they hate camber bolts, oblong washers etc- any of that. They want to do stock suspensions on stock settings all day and that's it. Slip them a $20 and they will try that little bit harder though.
*note- I'm not lowered |
I was at -2.2 max i could get positive with my spc arms. Installed spc toe arms now I'm at -1.0 in the rear and can get more positive if I wanted. No rubbing issues, but I also have rolled out my fenders.

Also I did slide my tech a 20$ and request my rear to be low as possible |
But here is the better question, why do you want 0 camber?

More oversteer, drift .. you may try slight toe-out & less grippy (narrower & higher threadwear & higher air pressures) tires too.

RacerX upper control arms should lose some weight and allow you to push out the top of the wheel pretty easily.
