I do want one. Im not sure if I will go get one right away ( If I have a deposit by then )
It depends what is offered from subaru and toyota, price.
I may wait till any bugs are sorted out then get one.
Im really not sure at the moment.

Subaru for me. Scion version nice, but i want to find out the specs an feel how the subie drives before i make my decision.

I voted right when it's out by default.

I want to wait for a special edition but I will be buying a car in 2012 regardless. My current vehicle has 150,000+ miles on it and, although it has been very reliable, routine maintenance on car with that many hard miles is starting to nickel and dime me to death.

Next year we should be seing a new miata, the FR-S, and there is a slight chance for a rotary sports car from Mazda. I will test drive all of them and buy the one that puts the biggest smile on my face.

Hopefully Scion follows Hyundai's lead and releases a special edition 6 months after the standard model like the R-Spec Genesis Coupe. Hyundai was also pretty cool about it and let everyone know up front that a R-spec edition was coming shortly after release which helped to minimize buyers remorse.

I hate it when manufacturers hit you with the surprise buttsecks special edition out of nowhere and you just bought the standard model.

Not only special models, but the next years model has a ton of spiffy new things or features that the model you just bought doesn't...

Or like in my Case, the 08 XRunner was the last year of the Clutch LSD.

The '09's also got crappy speakers in the roof instead of the Cab Doors. But you could get the flux capacitor subwoofer!

Yup it can go either way. Can get new features/specs you like, or lose the ones you really liked. Kinda like the S2000 AP1 vs. AP2.

Yeah but in the case of losing features you may be quick enough to hear about it and get the last model before the new ones arrive.

True or be in the position where you gain some features you like and lose some features you like at the same time.

No idea. There will be plenty of other options once this car hits the streets, and I'm not decided yet.

Just curious what else you are considering?

Golf R, Mustang GT, Genesis Coupe whenever it gets refreshed with the new engines. Also on the list if I decide another FWD car will work is the Focus ST, Mazdaspeed3, Beetle R once we have more details, or Abarth 500.
If I get a 20k raise at work, maybe a Lotus Evora. But I don't see that one happening soon, unfortunately.
But yeah, plenty of options, and I'm in no hurry to buy.

FR-HachiRoku 05-14-2011 12:12 AM

Right now I'm planning on buying the FR-S the month or month after it comes out. However, if the production version looks a lot different from the concept and I end up not liking it then it'll be hello Supra Turbo!

Allch Chcar 05-24-2011 01:32 AM

I'm just adding in now because I had to think about it. I'm going to wait a couple years till the premier version is more affordable. Using the 1/3 rule for how much car you can afford, I would need to make $60k to afford a $20k car(after $5k down payment). But if I wait, I can buy it outright in cash.

I don't make a lot of money nor do I plan on it. I don't have nor want a lot of expenses either though. I should be able to save up enough to buy the premier version in a few years and save a bunch of money in interest .

racinstylez 05-24-2011 01:49 AM

Im still holding my opinion till I see the final production model.
