HooptieCon at Sonoma 3/24/18: Lemons + Radwood!
 

Anyone else planning to go to HooptieCon at Sonoma Raceway next Saturday? https://24hoursoflemons.com/hooptie-con/

There is a Lemons Race from 9:30am-4:30pm, 2 car shows, and a film fest. One of the car shows is the 3rd Radwood event (80's/90's cars). Tickets are 20 bucks.

7am – Gates Open
9:30-4:30pm – 24 Hours of Lemons
10am – Car shows
3:30pm – Radwood Awards
5pm – Parade Lap
6pm – Engine-Heat BBQ Cookoff
8pm – Crapcannes Film Festival

I was gonna go to Lemons on Sunday, but since the 80's/90's thing is Saturday I might have to try and swing that instead. Wonder if my Joe Camel racing suit still fits. I think my wife hid it...I'm gonna look. lol.

I so want to build a lemonds car when I retire, or at least drive on a team once. I want like an AMC Matador or similar, or one of those mid engine Toyota wagons.

My friends were racing at this event in their Volvo 240 wagon with a BMW M52 engine. The car is painted like a Muni bus. Hit a wall at Sonoma. #totaled They are planning get another 240 and rebuild.

Yeah, those things needed roll cages and paint and to be out on the track! Ha ha...

How did I miss this post?! My brother and I planned on going (we even had our matching 90's starter jackets: Bulls & Magics of course!) in my bro's mk2 GTI, but alas, I've got the #dadlyfe... Kid was sick, so my bro ended up going by himself.

Glad it was a good turn out though. Hopefully this means more of these types of events.

Next Radwood is in June 24 in SF. Any of you guys planning on going then?

Yes! I went to the first event at Oyster Point and had fun. Will be back.

My buddy's pit was next to the #77 car. I think they got sandwiched by the Wonder Bread truck and another car.
