1st and 2nd gear not working after clutch replacement

So I just did a full oem clutch kit install on my 2013 FRS because my throw out bearing was shot. Bolted everything back up started the car up everything was fine. Took the car out for a drive and didnt go too well. For some reason where 1st gear is supposed to be is now acting as reverse. I am also not able to go into 2nd gear as if there is something blocking it from going into gear. Good things are reverse gear is fine, 3rd,4th,5th and 6th are also acting normal although i did not go into 5th or 6th when test driving but i assume they are ok. I am thinking there is something wrong with the linkage but not sure how the linkage could have messed up from a simple clutch replacement. Any ideas of what this could be? Any responses are greatly appreciated!

It was obviously not working correctly and you went for a drive?

You missed aligned you shifter. Go back and do it again.
Let me guess, you worked on the shifter linkage from the cabin?
Yeah, that fucks every one up doing it that way.
Much easier doing it from the bottom, yes you can. Trust me.

WELCOME to our "happy" gang, there, Joe85C .........

Too bad your shifter is all messed up ....... however, that can be fixed.

I would guess that ........ oh, nevermind ....... :sigh:

I'll summon our resident transmission expert @Ultramaroon to help you out. He is an expert at messing up ....... errrrr ..... I mean fixing up, tangled transmission linkages.

Stay tuned.

Mr.AC has it. Although he could expand on "You missed aligned you shifter."

OP, you failed to take into account that the top plate does more than lock out reverse. It also controls the path the gearshift takes into the first and second gear gates. Align it so when the lockout foot rests against it, the gearshift is in the middle of the gates.

I fixed it a while ago but you were spot on! I did work on it from the cabin too. Simple fix but can see where people can definetly over look that. Thanks!
